Thanks Mark!

And also let me thank those who offered suggestion / improvements because I thought I was finished... ::)

I believe this version will be the standard for my other V-One gauges upgrades. I'm really pleased with how well it has evolved :)

Thank you very much for that, Paul! I've just finished setting up the previous version which is already a great addition to a great airplane! I just wish I'd found the new one about an hour ago before I took off... ;)

I'm sure you'll like the latest version just as much if not more!

P.S. I'm done with making any more changes to the 737 for now. Time to update the other V-One gauges  ;)

Paul,

I installed the new gauge for the second leg of my trip this afternoon and I have to say that I'm stunned and completely impressed with the quality of this gauge!! It adds a new and realistic dimension to the airplane. The best upgrade is the auto-setting of the a/s bugs for takeoff and landing. I expected the setting for t/o based on your description and then got busy during approach to a handflown visual and didn't even realize they'd been reset for landing until turning final and realizing we were all reset again.

Thanks very much again! I'm really looking forward to your upgrade to the '27 gauge (please make it first ;)) as the version 2.4 has some issues and your gauge will help mitigate some of the disappointment ;D

I still love it anyway..it's an old airplane and they all have quirks...

Cheers!

In the instructions with the download I am confused with step:

2. Under [Window01] if you want the icons added:

What do the dots represent in this portion:
gauge01=..\..\CS_B737-200\panel\V-One!v1_Icon, 0, 0, 44, 26

I have yet to finish and test but in my entry I assumed the dots where the full path to the V-One folder I created and entered this:

gauge01=F:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B737-200\panel\V-One!v1_Icon, 0, 0, 44, 26

Am I even close?

Glad you got it working.

I should go through an explaination anyway to clear things up.
The line: gauge01=..\..\CS_B737-200\panel\V-One!v1_Icon, 0, 0, 44, 26 should be copy-and-pasted as is.

FSX interprets ..\.. as follows:
From the root folder (..\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X) go up two folders (\SimObjects\Airplanes) then use the explicit location (\CS_B737-200\panel\V-One).

While ..\..\CS_B737-200\panel portion is not nessesary in the -200 installation, it is very important for the -200ADV, C and F variants.

It was much easier for me to provide a single line that would work for all 737 models and have only one installation location.

Hope this cleared-up some questions for some of you  :)

Hi there, first thing awesome job.

I have one question which I hope you can help me  :)with.  I have installed everything exactly as per the instructions, however, for some reason I can not hear the call outs.

Just wondering if you can assist.  I'm proposing to uninstall everything and re-install, but thought I check if there was an easy fix.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Title: Re: V-One Gauge for B737-200/Adv/C/F Complete
Post by RobWilk on Feb 12th, 2013 at 2:38pm
Before you uninstall and reinstall, make sure that you've opened the V-1 gauge itself once whether you're using it or not. If you only open the Data Card window, the call outs won't work. I just open the V-1 gauge, then the Data Card, then close the V-1. Not sure if that exact sequence is required but it works for me.

Title: Re: V-One Gauge for B737-200/Adv/C/F Complete
Post by CoolP on Feb 24th, 2013 at 2:34pm
Rob mentioned a vital item. Can you guys confirm that you've used the data card and the V-One gauge at least once? This means that the data card shows valid entries for the weights and that you can see the yellow text on top of the screen.

The reason behind this is that both gauges need to run to allow for a proper initialization. As for the sounds, there would be a possible error source when it comes to the entries in the panel.cfg. You need to have valid entries for the sound gauge. Those should look like this.

Quote:
gauge18=dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Sound,2,2,2,2,\panel\V-one\V-One_Sound.ini
gauge19=dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Debugger, 420,550,600,80

Needless to say that the sound dsd gauge should be present in the gauges folder while the sound files go to a place within the sound folder of FSX (not the aircraft's). Well, mainly repeating the readme.  :-/ But the error must arise from one of those steps.

Hi,

Thank you, this is brilliant.

However, I did the installation according to the PDF, but the V1 and T icons do not appear in the Shift+2 icon display. The display area has expanded, but the area where the two icons should be is just black. The guages have been ticked in the FSX- View- Instruments panel menu.

What could I be missing?

Well, I tried the similar mods for the 707 - still the same problem; no V1 and Datacard Icons. This time however, only the V1 guage appears in the View-Intruments-panel menu, but not the datacard.

I´ve double and tripple checked everything, I just have no clue about what I´m doing wrong.

Hi CoolP thanks for your advice.  I changed the text in the panel.cfg file with your suggestion below and the call outs now work:

gauge18=dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Sound,2,2,2,2,\panel\V-one\V-One_Sound.ini
gauge19=dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Debugger, 420,550,600,80

The text above is different to what is the pdf install guide so maybe this is why there was no call outs.

Thanks again. ;D

Hi all, just love this gauge, makes it so much easier setting up.

One thing I have noticed when I'm running it, if you have the APU on before engine start, as fuel is consumed, the ZFW climbs and the GW stays the same. Shouldn't ZFW remain the same and the GW drops? Is it just my version of V-One or does that happen for everyone.

Cheers,

Nathan

Yes you can use the CIVA INS with the 737. Anyway the usual config used on most plane doesn't work with the 737 due to the CWS autopilot. It means that the CIVA INS gauge cannot control the heading bug.

Paul Tally made a gauge to make it work.
Check "Civa Ins Heading Display" on avsim

If I understood well how it works, it calculates the offset between your current heading and the heading needed to fly to your next waypoint. Then it banks the plane slowly to reduce this offset to zero....

I use this gauge, so I can tell you it works!

Hi guys

Sorry for I dug up an old topic, but I have had problems with the V-One Gauge.

I downloaded, from AVSIM, the gauge and the update, and I did the installation twice, to see if I missed something.

So, the thing is:

the V-One Gauge works, I can hear the co-pilot, the speeds are there, etc. But, I can't change from LBS to KG (the left corner "button" is blank to me) and I can't change from ºC to F.

The only clickable areas for me are the "flight time" and "fuel usage".

I use the V-One Gauge on 727 and 707, and there they work like it should be. What I'm missing here?

Another thing: on 707, the speed bugs when take-off or landing automatically are set. This doesn't happen on 727 or 737. There is something I can do for it?

Thank you for your attention.

Best regards
Cristiano Mueller

I have a problem installing program correctly. I downloaded the latest file from AVSIM. Initially I moved all the files manually to their correct locations using the pdf readme.txt as guidance and manually amended the config files. My initial attempt resulted in nothing visible when I started FSX and selected a CS-B737-200 version 1.6. There was nothing on the simicon panel nor was V-One visible in the Views-Instrument panel.
For my second attempt I dragged and merged the folders and copy and pasted the cfg amendments. This time on starting FSX the simicon panel has the V-1 and data card icons but none of the CS system icons. Clicking on the V-1 icons does not visibly activate any program. The views-Instrument drop down panel still has not got the V-One option. I've checked in 2-D and 3-D.
Does anyone have any helpful suggestions on where my installation is wrong.

It would appear that the newest update (V1.6) has broken the gauges functionality.

Also the author, fsxpaul, seems to have left the Captain Sim arena. Or I may be mistaken and hes not gone. I just don't know any more. It might have been an April fools thing. There was an ex member under his name in every post all day but now it seems to work.

I had some issues installing 1.6 and after a couple of hours of installing / uninstalling I decided to restart my computer. That did the trick for me.

If you're not seeing any of the CS icons then your 1.6 installation of may not have worked.

Things to check:
1. Are the V-One folder and files present in '\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B737-200\panel\V-One'?
2. Check the panel.cfg for:

Code (][Window Titles):

Window00=Main

3. If you're installing 1.6 and plan on keeping:
3a. Do not change the [TurbineEngineData] section as described in the readme.txt as CS changed the flight model and is not needed.
3b. Do not install gauge CS737_ApuGenGrdPwr_Complete as CS changed the flight model and is not needed.
3c. Do not install gauge CivaHdgDisplay as CIVA does not work any more in 1.6

Have the V-One gauge installed now on 200, Adv, C, and F versions.  Working great!!  Also, have been using the Load Manager to move cargo containers into and out of the cargo versions of the 737.  Just completed a test flight from Boeing Field in Seattle, WA to Ketchikan, AK, with ILS approach followed by unloading of cargo containers on the ramp.  Nice work, Captain Sim!! :) :)

As far as I red this topic, I am not sure that the V-One gauge will work with the current release 1.7.
Please could you confirm that it will work fine?

Have a look here;

I am thinking of buying the 737-200 in P3d, so this was of interest to me also.

Cheers

I have just spent the better part of 3 hours trying to install this add on, and I've got the V1 and the Data Card in the simicon list and they work, but I've lost all the other CS simicons, they're all blacked out, what is wrong?

Verify your panel.cfg in the [Window01] section with the code below:

Code (]
[Window01):

size_mm=44,146
background_color=1,1,1
window_pos=0.0,0.8
visible=1
render_3d_window=0
type=special
zorder=99
ident=12101
gauge00=Captain_Sim.x737.anim!icons, 0,26,44,120
gauge01=..\..\CS_B737-200\panel\V-One!v1_Icon, 0, 0, 44, 26

Thanks Paul, it's the little things that catch you out, I had 75 instead of 8, what a dummy! I must have looked at it several times and not spotted it.
Once again many thanks.

Ok I spoke too soon, I have successfully installed the Gauge in CS737-200 but have the same problem in CS737-200Adv, I have the V and the T on the simicon but no CS simicons. I have noticed one thing which may be relevant, in the CS737-200Adv panel.cfg.[Cockpit01] the bottom line is "gauge18=Captain_Sim.x737.sys2!main,1,1,1,1" this means that the amendment to that field has to be gauge 19 and gauge 20, this (gauge18=Captain etc.) does not figure in the CS737-200 panel.cfg. Could this be the problem?

Right I've done it, it all comes down to what you fsxpaul wrote on the 13th Jan. 2013, I compared the old saved panel.cfg [window01] gauge00= line and the new gauge00= line and then reread what you wrote in 2013, it is important for ADV/C/F aircraft to have the correct wording.
"gauge00=..\..\CS_B737-200\panel\Captain_Sim.x737.anim!icons, 0,26,44,120" is the correct line for those aircraft other than the basic 737-200.

Hope that makes sense.

Hi again, I have noticed an oddity with the V1 gauge versus the display, for example, if I set the trim using the V1 indicator (the yellow writing) and then compare it to the displayed trim on the screen there is always a difference, e.g. if I set 3.5 trim on the yellow writing when I look at the screen it shows the trim over 5.0, and when I take off I find the A/C tends to try to over rotate and climb into a stall, however if I set the recommended trim, yellow writing, by looking at the display  the A/C takes off more sedately and is more controllable, has anybody else noticed this or is it just me?

When I wrote this gauge I was not able to match the V-One trim calculation with the visual indicator on the trim wheel.
I suggest using the V-One trim setting (yellow text) and not the trim wheel indicator for this reason.

Here we go again! at least I think so, I've just updated to the latest version plus the patch and I've lost all the callouts for the V-One gauge, has anyone else had this problem?
Can anyone help?

Did you back-up your panel.cfg before installing the update?

The updater will always overwrite the panel.cfg file.

Hi Paul, hope you are well, yes I did back up pretty much everything! in fact that was how I fixed it. I compared the panel.cfg files and the aircraft.cfg files and they were the same, then I thought I haven't tried the 737-200, so I did and that worked!!? So back to the Adv. I compared the Adv. sound folders and they were the same only one item a cfg. file referring to the 737-200 alias, then I checked the panel file and discovered that although I had created a V-One file in the 737-200 panel folder I had neglected to do the same for the Adv. panel folder, WHAT A LEMON!!! Once I had done this all was well.
I seem to recall last time we communicated Paul it was because I had left undone those things that I should have done up!

Sorry matey

Hi guys, with the new 1.8 flight model is it still necessary to do the aircraft.cfg edits while installing the V-1 gauge? I see they have already dropped the static thrist down to 15500, but the inlet area remains at 19.4

No need for the aircraft.cfg changes. Captain Sim corrected the excessive thrust with a prior update.

Thank you Paul! Is there a way to add the altitude callout functionality to the 737 and 707 V1 gauges like your L-1011 and 727 V1 gauges? Like any "cut and paste" operation with the code?
Thanks

I'm working on an update to the V-One gauge that includes altitude call-outs.

Should be ready very soon  ;)
