Title: CS737 and the CIVA Ins: IT WORKS!!!
Post by fsxpaul on Dec 21st, 2012 at 9:32pm
Yes, it's true! The Civa Ins DOES WORK with the CS737 but with one catch...only in a SINGLE unit configuration. I have Win7, FSX & Acceleration installed...others need to be tested!

The heading bug does not move but I have written a XML gauge that will display the heading bug offset from the aircraft's current heading.
This display provides feedback if you wish to set the heading bug yourself but is not necessary.
It will also show digital magnetic or true compass value.

I have tested a Civa dual unit configuration and it doesn't work. I have not tested a triple unit as of yet.

I know this may be disappointing to some of you out there, but having a different navigation system other than the standard GPS means we now have more choices.

I personally prefer a single unit set-up as a dual set-up takes up a bit too much screen area, IMO.

Now available in the Avsim Library, serch for:

Great find! The unit may help on some RNAV stuff or just around areas where the FSX (or rw) navaids aren't enough or lack of range. The latter being a problem with most sim ADF stations.

Makes me wonder if addon FMC panels would also work. You know, some units like in the rw plane retrofits.

There's nothing 'quick' about the correct Civa Ins usage. If simplicity is what you would like to navigate, then I suggest you use the GPS with FSX flight plans.

But, if you're up for the challange, then you should definiatly check out this thread as a starting point. It goes into great detail.

Wait, Paul. I think he was asking about your config. The link in the Civa thread is a good idea when it comes to all the questions on the Civa operation, but your single unit config for the 737 is what the folks are looking for I guess.

Okay, I guess I misunderstood  :-[

I've just uploaded the CivaHdgDisplay.zip gauge to the Avsim library...should be ready soon. It has the single unit configuration set-up included in the readme file.

yeah im more looking for how u make it work not how to work it.. as the INS is prety simple to what im used to

the reason i asked is because im sure u had to do something special to get it working that's for sure.

1.6 has broken it and it no longer works.  Can set heading manually but rather defeats the purpose.

Tanya, indeed all problems worked out but the Delco Carousel Civa INS is not a CaptainSim product.  It is 3rd party and I am just informing everyone that was using it with 1.0 that 1.6 can't be used anymore.

Personally I would love for CaptainSim to take charge with navigation options on their products as other developers do such as MilItary Visualizations and provide INS, FMS, etc for your Nostalgy aircraft like you did with the L-1011.  GPS only or go VOR isn't even  a realistic navigation option today.

Most operators of the 732, 721, 722, 703 are using FMS or INS systems.  While I am happy to add third party navigation options, I would prefer it if my developer did that for me even for a price.  The 703 still doesn't have a working INS.  As well, since I am relying on third party options, updates to a product can void a working third party option.

FIXED!  Exchange the 1.6 Captain_Sim.x737.sys.dll for the 1.0 leaving all else unchanged if you want the option of the single Delco Carousel CIVA INS as a navigation option instead of relying on the unrealistic gps or messing with VOR radials.

Is it possible for anybody to upload the 1.0 dll somewhere, or CS to fix this. Unbelievable to see a 1.x product not finished. Please don't make a product in the future untill is really flyable.

Why is it not flyable? The 737 flies very well for me and I find it lots of fun to fly. :)

Just purchased the 737.

Can someone please help me.
I have installed the necessary CIVA entries into the cfg files and they are all correct.
The CIVA unit powers up correctly - I can enter co-ordinates, align and enter waypoints 1-9.

Now, can someone plz explain, in detail, how I set up the AP for the 737 to follow the ins flightplan.

The op says it works, but no luck so far on my side.

Otherwise, can someone plz explain, again in detail, how to get the AP to follow a FSX flightplan.

tHANKS

Regards
Trevor

It probably isn't initialising. Go to the 2D cockpit (F10 key by default), to initialise the CIVA, then it should work fine.

You could put the initialisation entry (gaugeXX=../civa/INS!Config, 0, 0, 0, 0, csx732 (or however you have it written)) in the panel.cfg in the [VCockpit01] section, instead of the [Window00] section, so it initialises when the 737 first loads into FSX.

"Exchange the 1.6 Captain_Sim.x737.sys.dll for the 1.0"

Can anybody point me in the right direction to get this as well? I have v1.7 of the 737-200, v1.51 of the CIVA INS and Paul's heading mod as well and I can't get the aircraft to track the routes entered as well.

Thank you for any help

This post originated almost 5 years ago. When 1.6 was released the CIVA heading control stopped working.

There isn't any current fix as far as I'm aware.

Some people might still be using an earlier version of the 737 Captain, where the information in this Topic will help them to use the CIVA-INS. So just because this Topic doesn't help you, doesn't mean it should be removed. :o

It's stupid to fly on old versions, if there are already new updates.
