Title: Weird Banking
Post by Jazz777 on Nov 30th, 2012 at 3:30pm
Hey guys,
I got a problem that the 757 banks left and right crazily when the A/P is on. Do you have any solution for that? :(

Are you using Real Weather? If you are, go to Options > Settings > Display > Weather and checkmark (tick) the Disable turbulence and thermal effects on aircraft option. See if that helps.

I meant that the aircraft banks left and right crazily when I switch on the CMD. I'll try to show you a footage about the problem.

I know what you mean. I saw it happen only once to me in the 757 and that was when I was using real weather, but that was in P3D*, never FSX, but it turned out that when I did this: Options > Settings > Display > Weather and checkmark (tick) the Disable turbulence and thermal effects on aircraft, it would uncheck it (remove the tick) as soon as I exited the settings and returned to P3D. I was able to stop it from preventing me from making the changes, so I no longer have the problem.

* Captain Sim don't support P3D. Only FSX.

Remember guys, I haven't installed any addons because I bought a new PC and I didn't have time to install them. I only installed CS757 because this is the only bird I flew frequently. But when I switch on the CMD, the aircraft starts banking left and right CRAZILY and it totally piss me off about it. So PLEASE HELP ME SOLVE THIS SOLUTION!!!!! :'(

Which OS are you using? Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8?

Just so you know, I have just finished installing Windows 8 and I am now installing FSX and acceleration. I am planning to test all the Captain Sim products (for FSX of course) and see how they perform with Windows 8.

I have the same problem, but a may be due to not having setup for flight properly (I don't know). I just purchased the 757 and took it for a quick test flight, nothing programed in the FMC. I've had other 757 so I know how to setup a flight. I did align the IRS and had the FD on, had it trimmed out for takeoff, but it may have been off. I do think It had to do with air speed (won't know until I try another flight). I set AP and it didn't happen until flaps were up. I didn't think of air speed until I read a post, so I don't know what the  airspeed was at the time.
I do know that after the aircraft got somewhere above 200kts the rocking stopped. So for the org. poster he may want to check airspeed.

The 757 (v4.6) will lose airspeed if the Angle of Attack (nose) is too high.

After I take off, I lower the nose so that the 757 is climbing at about 2000-2500 fpm, THEN I press the A/P CMD button. Activating the A/P sets the 757 in VS, Speed and Heading HOLD modes. It then appears to hold the V2 speed for quite a while before slowly increasing speed to 250 knots. Once it is stable and the speed is increasing, I switch LNAV and VNAV ON. I wait until the speed reaches 180-200 knots before I start raising the flaps.

Hi Markoz, yes, I can now verify that airspeed was to low. The thing I don't understand, if the airspeed was to slow and airplane was rocking from side to side because it was close to stall, then why won't the the stall horn sound?
I know I'm comparing apples to oranges here, but when flying a actual Cessna 172 and practicing stalls before the airplane would start to buffet the stall horn would sound. Now in a large aircraft I thought the stall horn sounds before the stick shaker. If the airplane is rocking (or should I say rolling) from side to side is it trying to simulate stick shaker. Never flew a real 757, but I thought when the yoke starts to shake its about ready to stall and the stall horn should sound before it does shake. I'm not sure if the rocking is supposed to simulate stalling. If so, then the stall horn should sound first.
Anyways no big deal, I now know that I need to keep the airspeed up.
i could be wrong, but I think in the 757 AP should not be activated until 1,000' AGL and I was able to do this by lowering the nose after gear up. Doing this I was able to get airspeed up to the proper flap setting and was able to enable AP before flaps retracting.

So with that said I'd like to thank you for the advise on airspeed. The other 757 I flew, the airspeed rose very quick so I never thought that this 757 airspeed would be slower. I wonder if this is how the real 757 is supposed to act. I thought I read somewhere that real 757s climb like a rocket.

Thanks for the info
Gabe

I think the motion you describe is called a "Dutch Roll" (it's explained in the link).

I have mostly had this happen in the Captain Sim 707 because the altitude and speed a controlled manually by me. So if I get too high and too slow, the 707 begins to rock from side to side. The only fix is to descend to thicker air (2,000 - 4,000 feet lower)!

I can't tell you why the stall warning horn did not come on. I have only had this happen the one time (explained in a previous reply).

Edit: Version 4.4 climbed very rapidly and due to some people saying it was unrealistic , it was changed for the last two versions v4.5 & v4.6. At least I think that's why it was changed. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry for replying a little bit late.

Actually, the Aircraft was in a safe speed and the angle of attack is not very high. Every time I takeoff, I would pitch up the nose at around 5-10 degree to maintain control of the speed. And also one thing I also forgot to tell you that when this thing happened, the auto-thottle won't work either. I even tried testing the autopilot while leveled in flight. Speed is 235 kts and I switched on, and the aircraft starts turning left and right and the nose pitched up to a dangerous angle (50-60 degree) and stalled and I wasn't quick enough to save the aircraft.
SO CAN YOU FIND ONE SIMPLE SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM?? ANYBODY??!!! :(

Don't know what's happening in your case. I just get the rocking back and fourth. I don't get the pitch up. How was the trim prior to engauging the AP?
This link seemed to help a little with the rolling. Have a look it might help.
I may try and tweak the numbers some more.

NOT THE ROCKING!!! THE BANKING!!! Well...... Due to this problem, I decide to uninstall it and continue to fly in another computer of mine.  :'(

This is a question for Markoz.Hi I know you have a new rig with Windows 8,and would like to know how you are doing with testing FSX and CS products.I have just ordered a similar machine to LOU's laptop, and it has Windows 8.I'm not sure what partitions it will have, also I hear that it is not recommended to install FSX in the default location.
Any recommendations appreciated.

Hey guys I have the exact same issue.

I installed 757 in FSX:SE and seemed to work fine, untill I engaged the autopilot: 757 became inflyable, start banking left and right continuosly and I got in stall.

So, I reinstalled (repair) and start from cold and dark, but nothing change. Just till I engage A/P my speed fall down, I got stall and a/c begin banking left and right as before.

Have you got an idea about what can cause this strange behaviour and how to solve it?

Thanks so much

I am not having this issue in FSX-SE. The CS 757 works fine for me (it works just like it does in FSX).

As for Ron's question from 2013, I don't know how I missed it. Sorry on. :(

While FSX and all my Captain Sim addons work fine on my Desktop computer, I just recently bought a Laptop, with Windows 8.1 64bit, but FSX with SP2 or Acceleration will not run - It keeps giving me a message about not having the correct version of DirectX, and no matter how many times I have tried to install DirectX 0.9c, it won't install.

I am going to reformat the HDD and install Windows 7 Professional 64bit, and hopefully that will get FSX working on my Laptop. I do not expect the graphics to be that good on my Laptop, but as long as I can fly my CS products on it, I will be happy. :)
