Title: Winows 7 64bits
Post by MARTINI on Oct 7th, 2012 at 1:25am
Dears Pilots
Can you tell me if there is an update for the 727 windows 7 64bit? I can not see any clock, everything is where it should have a black instrument.
My graphics card is a Nvidea GeForce GTX 680 and have no problem in other applications!

As far as I know, flightsim products work fine in 64-bit--I've certainly never had a problem. Just try reinstalling with a new installer--it sounds like there might be a problem with your panel.cfg, if you have gauge problems.

yep. Dont forget to run as administrator!
Most of pilots use 64 bit OS, - it works just fine!
You got problem with gauges - they not installed, or not added to "trusted" list. reinstall should fix it.

I've done that but it did not work!
I still do not see the panel on the commander's vision and the vision of the flight engineer no clock appears.
:( :( :( :(

I recently upgraded from Vista 64 bit to Windows 7 64 bit. Some things you have to check if you are redownloading or reinstalling.
1. Make sure your UAC setting is on lowest scale,i.e. least restrictive.
2. If you have any CS aircraft folders from old op system, delete them all.(make copies of additional liveries you want.)
3.Install CS aircraft as Administrator.
4.Check FSX.cfg file for Trusted gauges on CS aircraft.

Hi Ron.

Quote:
1. Make sure your UAC setting is on lowest scale,i.e. least restrictive.
Mine is always set to "Recommended" and I've never had any problems with installing/running Captain Sim products. :-/

@MARTINI. If FSX is installed in the default location (C:\Program Files (x86)\ etc), then you might need to run FSX as an administrator. You can set it to "run as administrator" permanently by Right clicking on fsx.exe > Properties > Compatibility Tab > Run this program as an administrator (under Privilege Level)

Other than the fact that I don't use Preview DirectX 10, I have no problems with any of my addon aircraft (except one), with my UAC set on "Recommended". I have a heap of addon aircraft for FSX (you name it, I probably have it). I go into all these forums and see people having problems with their addons, and mine all work like they should. This explains why you don't see me saying much in the other forums. I just don't understand why it is that I am not having any problems (except for what actually turn out to be a real bug in the product) with any addon I buy.

I give up! I spent money on a program that does not work!
It worked perfectly fine when my PC was nuts. Now that I've spent a fortune on a i7 machine with a video card for $ 600, 8 Gb RAM etc ... and this nuts does not work and nobody knows why?

Try reinstalling SP1 and SP2/Acceleration (if necessary, use the Repair option) for FSX to see if that helps.

Hi there,

Your best bet may be to uninstall FSX and then install it in a different directory, preferably on a physical drive where Windows is not installed.
(my own: E:\FSX)
That way once you install as administrator, all limitations from the Windows security system will be much less noticeable or completely gone.
My security settings are pretty tight and I have not had a single issue yet. Keep in mind that I do install all my add-ons on a different drive as well (E:\FSXadd) I have the CS planes, another company, REX Essential, FS2Crew; GSX etc. and everything runs quite well.

Marc

The program does not work even with the options that you have spoken!!
I uninstalled FSX and the Captain Sim, erased all traces of FSX in Regedit windows, reinstalled in a separate folder off the root but it did not work!
See attached files in the screenshot of the problem.

Sometimes the Online Activation fails. It seems to have worked, but it hasn't. So an Offline Activation can often fix it, so it's worth trying.

I will explain better. You talked about that "sometimes the Online Activation fails. It Seems to have worked, but it has not. So Often an Offline Activation can fix it, so it's worth trying."
Well, how do I resolve this? During installation if I do not authenticate it installs the program!
Give me step by step to try again! If it does not work I release a remote access so you try to solve it for me!

KB #685:

Q: How to reinstall a product?

A:
Quite a number of "issues" are caused by using of outdated version of a product. Prior to submitting a support request please make sure you have current version of a product.

To reinstall a product please perform the following steps in exact order:
Uninstall the product:
1. Go to Start> Programs> Captain Sim.
2. Select the product you wish to uninstall.
3. Click uninstall icon.

Install the product:
4. Make sure you have the latest version of the product
5. Run the product installer (the .exe file) and follow the prompts.
Please note: valid Order Number and Internet connection are required for installation/activation.

Please make sure you run the installation file as Administrator and that "User Account Control" is disabled (for Vista and Windows7), it limits admins ability to install programs.

If regular reinstall did not fix your problem you can try to clean registry.
Please be careful and do it on your own risk!

How to clean Registry:
1. Uninstall the product
2. Go to Start> Run. Type: regedit, click OK.
3. Find the product entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\ (please note, for Windows 64bit versions it is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CaptainSim\)
For example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\C130XPRO
Make sure you are going to delete correct folder!
4. Delete the product entry folder.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Install the product.

If you stil have issues and the above does not help we must admit your system configuration is a rare exception. You can try to install the product on another system or request a refund.

I hope you only had one Captain Sim product installed. Your whole Captain Sim folder is deleted. Anyway....

Did you try an offline activation?

Try doing these to if that gets it working properly:
1) Turn your Antivirus software off while you install it. They can sometimes interfere because the activation needs to add the entry into the registry. I use Avast, and it sometimes blocks the installation, so I deactivate the "shields" for 10 minutes when installing FSX addons.

2) Turn off the UAC (User Account Control) because it is quite restrictive especially C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86). It is highly recommended that you DO NOT install FSX in the default location if you are using Vista or Windows 7. You should install it in the root C: drive (C:\FSX) or on a separate drive or partition.

3) Run FSX using the "Run as administrator" option.

Dear Markoz

The answers to your questions are in bold and red.

I hope you only had one Captain Sim product installed. Your whole Captain Sim folder is deleted. Anyway ....

Yes, I just had a Captain Sim.

Did you try an offline activation?

Yes I tried this option three times.

Try doing these to if enquiry.c That gets it working:
1) Turn off your Antivirus software while you install it. They can sometimes interfere because the activation needs to add the entry into the registry. I use Avast, and sometimes it blocks the installation, so I deactivate the "shields" for 10 minutes When Installing FSX addons.

I had not disabled my AVG. I'll turn it off like you said.

2) Turn off the UAC (User Account Control) because it is quite Restrictive Especially C: \ Program Files or C: \ Program Files (x86). It is highly recommended That You DO NOT install FSX in the default location if you are using Vista or Windows 7. Should you install it in the root C: drive (C: \ FSX) or on a separate drive or partition.

I had done this earlier.

3) Run FSX using the "Run as administrator" option.

All my attempts were as Administrator.
I'll test option 1 from his questioning and let's see if it works!

Artur Martini

Unfortunately it did not work!!!!!

I believe there is no other alternative for me, even though you speak the program runs on my OS.
I see only a last alternative for my case (if possible) before I cancel my Captain Sim. I release the remote access to the support team! If you can not, I get very frustrated, but I have to conform!

Best regards

Sorry that it has not worked for you. I can't think of why it isn't installing correctly. :(

As to the comment I made about deleting the Captain Sim entry in the Windows registry was because you only needed to delete the 721PRO_FSX entry. It is no big deal if the only Captain Sim addon you own is the 727-100 Base Pack.

Quote:

I don't know if Captain Sim will use Remote Assistance to sort it out. In truth, it is not wise to give access to your computer to people you do not know and trust. I have never done it for anyone (not that anyone has asked anyway).

I am NOT a Captain Sim staff member. I am just a member of Captain Sim forum who is happy to help out, to the best of my ability, and was given the the title of Official Supporter by them for that help. ;)

Hi Martini.

If you deleted the Captain Sim entry in the registry, which removes ALL the registry entries for Captain Sim Products, your 767 should not work properly anymore either (unless you reinstalled it). You should find that you can't click on any knobs, not even the master battery switch. Not even using SHIFT+M (default keyboard command for the Master Battery/Alternator (on/off)) will turn it on.

Where is FSX installed on your computer?

Dear Markoz,

I made a radical decision today. I formatted my PC and reinstalled just Windws 7 and Captain. I do not have anything else installed to rule out any possibility of conflict. The result was the same! Does not work!

My FSX was installed (and fully functional) in the Program Files (x86).
After I changed as you had suggested to a location outside of the root. He is on partition d: FSX along with Captain Sam

I try to summarize everything we talked anteriorly to guide you on some facts that I see:

1 - The FSX always worked and still works fine on my PC.

2 - The aircraft that have installed work well.

3 - The 767 I bought also worked well, but he is having problems with frame rate, ie, their movements are very slow, and called the Captain and the flight attendant and the yaw dumper not work neither!

4 - I remember well that the 727 has always worked well on Windows XP SP1, SP2 and SP3.

5 - The 727 now does not work any avionics. The battery switch is on but nothing appears.

I want to ask you something. Could you send all versions from the first to the last so I've installed all the updates and not only that I have here?
I had a similar problem with a program that did not work well if there was a basis for updates.

I think that's it. Thank you again!

1. Check-in to Your Profile > Product (727-100 Base Pack) > Extended Download Service > Get New Links  and download a new installer (csp721_2400.exe).

2. Uninstall the Captain Sim 727 Captain Base Pack.

3. Open Windows Registry > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CaptainSim\ > Delete the 721PRO_FSX folder, ONLY and not the entire Captain Sim folder, as shown in the following image.

4. Disable your AVG. I don't use it so I'm not sure how you do that, but you should be able to.

5. Reinstall the 727-100 Base Pack (csp721_2400.exe) using the "Run as administrator" option.

6a. When given the option to either do an Instant Online Activation (this computer must be connected to the Internet) or a Manual Offline Activation (on this computer using a computer connected to the Internet), select the Manual Offline Activation. Click on Next.
 b. Select GENERATE AND SEND YOUR SYSTEM CODE (see image). Click on Next.

 c. Please enter your Order Number (enter your Order Number). Click on Next.
 d. Enter your e-mail (so enter the e-mail address you used when buying the 727). Click on Generate. Save the CODE file (code_p721.txt) - I recommend saving the file on your Windows Desktop to make it easy to find. Click on Next.
 e. Take note of the web address to go to so you can Activate it. Click on Finish.

7. Open web browser and navigate to http://www.captainsim.com/activ/offline.php AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO COMPLETE THE ACTIVATION. You can do it from your computer. You DO NOT need to use another computer to do this (I have done it for all my Captain Sim products from my computer that has FSX installed). Save the KEY file (key_p721.txt). Again. I recommend you save it on your Windows Desktop.

8a. When given the option to either do an Instant Online Activation (this computer must be connected to the Internet) or a Manual Offline Activation (on this computer using a computer connected to the Internet), select the Manual Offline Activation. Click on Next.
 b. Select USE A KEY RECEIVED FROM CAPTAIN SIM (see image below instruction 6b). Click on Next.
 c. Click on Browse, Navigate to the Windows Desktop if it doesn't automatically go there. Select the KEY file (key_p721.txt), click on Open. Click on Next.
 d. Click on Install.

All going well, the 727-100 should work now.

Open AVG and check your virus chest. See if any of the following 727 gauges (there's a lot) have been moved there:
