Title: Fuel Calculation and Fairchild AFB
Post by mario1983 on Jun 24th, 2012 at 7:49am
Is there any formula to calculate fuelburn or takeoff and landing speeds?

Im currently working on Fairchild AFB afcad, so, if there is aneyone who know how to place buildings or to make custom buildings to scenario or make the B-52 traffic please contact me, i want to make this AFB as real as i can.

To create an Airport, I would use either gmax (free with FSX Deluxe and FSX Gold) or FS Design Studio 3.5 (from Abacus for $US50) OR you can also use 3DS Max too, if you can afford it.

For me, FSDS is easiest because you put the coordinates of the objects (buildings) when exporting them to the BGL file. I've never even tried creating scenery objects with gmax, so I don't know what is involved there. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, although I think that gmax is the harder, but more flexible of the two. I bought the gmax Bible and the gmax Handbook to learn how to do things with gmax, but I still need a lot of help from the FS development forums.

Here is a link to the Sim Outhouse Design - Gmax Tutorials Forum: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?93-Gmax-Tutorials, which will be a great help to what you want to do.

Sorry that I can't help you with the fuel burn or takeoff landing speeds for the B-52.

Thanks for your help, i have another strange problem. I have modified the freeware b-52 for AI use and finali he appeared in airport but he tries to fly like spaceshuttle after takeoff

Sorry. I can't really help you with that one either. I have thought of making some of my addon aircraft appear as AI and adding routes for them in FSX, but I've never actually done it.

How to calculate the takeoff distance i figured it has something to do with GTOW.

And yes I almost forgot, I have made the Castle AFB AFCAD but have some problem, there are some houses at alert parking.

I tried AFCAD a very long time ago, I wanted to do my local airport and still do.

I had a look into gmax and creating scenery, but it is a lost cause to me. I understand how t crate the buildings, but not how to give them a location (longitude and latitude). Creating aircraft was my thing, but I'm not very good at doing that either. I understand what to do, but they never look right to me, so I now have half a dozen (maybe more) incomplete aircraft lying around on my HDD, gathering dust. :(

As i understand the buildings are placed with ADE or FSXPlanner.
I also founded that i must create some kind of airport background or something, I will figure this out.

About some calculations I found this site, it has many Aircraft operating characetristics:
alternatewars.com  (cant post active link, 10 posts again)
I also found some sites selling aircraft operating manuals, but i have not se any ISBN on the PDF-s, how can they selling them

Mario,

Re the PM, I notice you are getting up to ten now! Keep replying and you will then get to open it.

I may be able to help you with the scenery as I have done quite a bit already - but never done AFCAD's. I am currently cheating and adding additional scenery to existing airports made by UK2000 etc.

I use FSDS and Instant Scenery to position them in in FSX. It works for me!

My main airport that I fly from is Bournmouth in the UK (included in the weapons FSX package as a populated airport with CS AI aircraft) I have added working arrestor gear on the main runway and some additional airport 'clutter' around the parking that I use as default.

I have also updated my local airfield with all the new buildings added recently (again using the UK2000 as a base model and adding to it).

I am also currently working on the local bombing range here in the UK at Donna Nook, no AFCAD required as they are just targets located on a beach location- still WIP at the moment, but looking good.

Getting back to your AFB, you need some good pictures of the buildings that need to be modelled along with dimensions etc. as a good starting point.

Mario,

If you still have houses on your alert area I think you need to use an 'Exclude' to remove them. Thats about the limit of my knowledge in AFCAD.

I have sent a PM bye the way.

Let me know when you return, I decided to tweak the afcad, looks like the bomber parkings are uneaven. Is there anybody to make AI traffic for Tankers Bombers Helicopters and Fighters?

I wish there is AGM-28 for FSX

Mario,

AGM-28 looks interesting, I can make one for you when I get back home. Remind me..

I have had a quick look and I have not seen this before but does look like a good project.

Always looking for good little projects like this. Got your mail bye the way, will reply when I get back home.
