Title: No numbers or letters in the autopilot or radios..
Post by Jared_Maurtua on Jun 5th, 2012 at 5:20pm
This is for ALL my captain sim planes.
Even after proper startup. I noticed the square thing with the engine info is off but it persists even while it's on.

This went on after reinstallation. It is not in the fuel counter, autopilot, the ils landing things [circled] or the radios. And does anyone know why the planes [all] start with their engines off?

The numbers not showing in the IAS/MACH Indicator are normal in the 767 v1.5 or 757 v4.6!

The numbers not showing on the Standby Engine Indicator, is because it is not turned on. Click on the white switch (yellow circle). You can see that the pointer is not set to ON.

But when I DO turn it on nothing is there. This is the Course and frequency inicator also. And there are no numbers on the fuel counter!

Okay. Scratch the info on the IAS/Mach Indicator.

Hmmm. Trying to remember if there should be numbers there or not, depending on whether you have set it to MAN or AUTO. Maybe it only shows the numbers when it is set MAN. :-/

Mark,

In AUTO the computer wanders around up-dating the IRS position with VOR/DME.
In MANUAL the pilot controls the VOR selection.

If I remember, some planes would show blank if the computer was doing the switching. The information on which VOR was being tuned could be seen in the FMS display. I think some models would show info in both places, but it's been a while.

Thanks Lou.

I thought that either the 757 or 767 (maybe both of them) did not display the frequencies when the computer is controlling them. I could be wrong though. Maybe they are both supposed to always display the frequencies in use. :-/

It would also be more helpful if:
(1) These topics were in the correct location (i.e. the 757 general forum or 767 general forum).
(2) If we knew which Captain Sim aircraft he is having the problem with (which is where doing #1 would solve that as well).

Sadly, Jared appears to be having problems with all of his Captain Sim products, the 777, the 757 (or is it 767?) and the 737, so he can't be having a fun time right now. :(

I always thought that some VOR or waypoint information must be written in the FMS, or manually, in order for it to display a VOR/DME indication?

When the standby engine instruments are turned on and the engines are off, some values should be displayed as "zero" (if the aircraft isn't moving and is on the ground) Do you get any readings?

If this is happening with the other aircraft too, do you have FSX Service Pack 2 installed?
