Title: ACE: is this a known bug?
Post by bud7h7 on May 3rd, 2012 at 4:56pm
I have the 737-200 installed, no other models.  When I use the ACE to uncheck "flight deck only" my aircraft.cfg then says model=100 and I have to edit the .cfg and change it to model=200 otherwise the aircraft is not available in FSX.

I just tried it on the 737-200 American Airlines livery and it worked fine.

This is what my aircraft.cfg looks like now:

[fltsim.0]
title=CS 737-200 Captain Paint0
sim=csx732
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=aa
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=N754UA
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=American Airlines
atc_flight_number=732
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=737-200
ui_variation=American Airlines
ui_typerole=Commercial Airliner
ui_createdby=Captain Sim
description=737 Captain (737-200) v1.0\n(c) 2012 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com

[fltsim.1]
title=CS 737-200 Captain Paint1
sim=csx732
model=200
panel=
sound=
texture=af
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=F-GBYA
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=Air France
atc_flight_number=732
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=737-200
ui_variation=Air France
ui_typerole=Commercial Airliner
ui_createdby=Captain Sim
description=737 Captain (737-200) v1.0\n(c) 2012 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com

And this is what is inside the model.cfg in CS_B737-200\model folder:

[models]
normal=x732
interior=x737_interior_fdo

No need for me to edit any files. It works fine for me. Not sure why yours is not working correctly. :-/

Thanks Mark. Do you also have a model.200 folder with this in the .cfg?

[models]
normal=..\model\x732
interior=..\model\x737_interior

I've been reinstalling the same csp732_1000 file from my hard drive to try fixing a few issues. I think it's time to delete that one and d'load a new one!

Update: downloaded/installed the 737 again, and the installation looked good (model=200 in the .cfg).

Then I ran ACE, deleted the unwanted liveries, saved the remaning liveries as "flight deck only" which correctly saved as

model=

But when I uncheck "flight deck only" for a livery it saves the .cfg with

model=100  :-?

That's really weird.

The [fltsim.1] entry has model=200.

When selecting  a 737-200, all of the aircraft were there. I switched between the American Airlines aircraft (VC and NO Pax Cabin), to the Air France aircraft ( VC and Pax Cabin), I can switch between them.

They both work as they should. I did a flight from MEL to SYD in the American Airlines 732, and the return flight in the Air France 732. So my ACE_737.exe is working fine.

Very strange indeed. ACE must be getting "100" from somwhere, it is not just making it up pn it's own. Could I be missing something during uninstallation?

1. 737-200\uninstal.exe
2. delete registry entry (there is only one folder, correct?)
3. delete saved flights in my documents\fsx
3. delete all cs737 entries in FSX.cfg [trusted] section
4. reboot
5. reinstall

Not sure, but I think there are two entries in the registry for the 737-200!

In my registry, I have x730, e731, e732, e733 and p732 and from memory, I think that the x730 and p732 are for the 737-200 Base Pack, while the rest are for the expansion models (e731 = 737-100, e732 = 737-200ADV and e733 = 737-200C/F).

Worst thing is, that if you delete those two and I have got it wrong, you will need to reinstall one of the expansion models if you have them. I have the entire 737 Captain Family so I could be wrong on which two they were. :(

The 732 is my only CS product so I just deleted the main "captain sim" folder in the registry, which contains p732 and x730.

I'm not that concerned with ACE adding 100 instead of 200 in the .cfg, I'm more concerned that it could mean there's something not right with my installation.

Well I hope that a complete uninstall/reinstall fixes it for you.

Was the 737-200 installed using administrative rights (if you are using Vista or Windows 7)?

Things that come to mind, for the cause of this problem, are things like the location where FSX is installed IF you use Vista/Win7.

My FSX is a long way from the default location, of C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86), on a separate HDD, my J: drive. That way I avoid any restrictions that Win7 has on the C: drive, and especially Program Files/Program Files (x86), that would affect FSX.

My OS is windows 7, and FSX is on it's own drive. I don't think it would matter anyway since I installed windows without additional user profiles, so I am always the administrator whether I select administrators rights or not.

Regarding ACE setting model=100, I've made it a special project of mine to sort that out. It's like an addictive crime suspense novel. I can't put it down. Must figure out "who done it".  ;D

Don't let that fool you! Unless you have UAC switched off (not recommended), it comes in handy to right click on a file and select the "Run as administrator" option, especially if you are having problems. I have a single administrative user account on my computer (Win 7 Professional) and I still need to install things that way occasionally. I always use that option for Captain Sim products to avoid problems (to be on the safe side).
