Title: How to adjust the trim on the Captain Sim 757-200
Post by cdmiller on Mar 30th, 2012 at 2:35pm
How do I adjust the trim settings on the Captain Sim 757?  The trim stays at 4.00.  I can not make any adjustments.  Thank you in advance.

There are a few ways to move the trim in FSX.

I use my buttons on the joy stick. You can use the trim handles on the center pedestal as in the picture below, or keyboard assignments.

Plus, the 757's trim indicator is incorrect, so I just hover my mouse over the trim handles to get the accurate reading.

Nick the way trim is worked out in large Boeing is different from smaller GA aircraft so the numbers wont match as they are not meant to.

Do not use the ToolTip reading on the Trim Handle as a guide to setting the recommended trim! It will give the 757 too much trim (nose up)! Use the Stab Trim Indicator (#2 in the attached image).

Sorry for bumping this thread, but this glitch has an interesting manifestation on my end.  When I set the trim according to the graphic, I get a TO Config Warning Horn and must reject.  Is there a way to get CS to ignore the FSX tooltip or for the FSX tooltip to correctly report the trim setting?

Sounds like the CG is to far forward or backward.
I don't recall ever getting a TO Config Warning for the Trim setting.
I usually get it because I haven't set the flaps according to the setting I entered in the CDU Takeoff page. :o

See the last three posts in this thread http://captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1372397434. As long as your flaps are set you ignore the warning horn. Once you are airborne the warning will cease. You might need to pulll the joystick or yoke a little harder than normal but it will takeoff and fly.

I have no idea how a 757 would react after taking off with out the flaps set (forgotten) in the T/O position, but I would assume it would be sluggish and in real danger of stalling. Perhaps Lou can inform us.

I would like it if the next 757 (5.0) would react similar if the flaps are not set for take off, in that it will take a lot more runway and if you attempt take off.... you won't get very far.

You should get a takeoff warning if the flaps are not set for takeoff or the trim is not in the green band.

If you takeoff without flaps and ignore the horn, the takeoff roll would be longer and the liftoff speed much higher.
