Title: 727 many gauges missing
Post by WJS on Dec 3rd, 2011 at 8:13pm
Hello, I am new. I recently downloaded the 727 base pack. I shut down firewall, virus and user account. I installed aircraft file, the cockpit missing many gauges. Most everything is unclickable. The only gauge that I can see that is working is the time one. I have uninstalled several times. Redownloaded from sever as many times. Still the same results.
I have a disfunctional aircraft.

Would anyone have any suggestions?

Are you using Flight Simulator X with SP2 or Acceleration? This is a minimum system requirement for using the CS 727 Captain - http://www.captainsim.com/products/x727/sysreq.html

If you are using Vista or Windows 7, is FSX installed in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)? If it is, you could try running FSX as an administrator. Or what would be even better, is to install FSX on the C: drive (C:\FSX) or on another drive or partition is even better.

Thank you for your info, Markoz.
I am running Vista 64-bit-sp2. I have a2 Quad pc w @2.33GHz Ram-8.00 GB. Drive-c- 1.82 TB. Video card- GEForce GT 440. Video card Mem-1.00 GB. Running as Administrator. Running FSX in C:\Prog Files [x86].
I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. Same results.
I hope an administrator can also give advice on what to do.
Once you read this, would be appreciative to receive any other
advice.

i got comparable system. but i dont shutdown any of programs when i installed it. it installed smoothly and works fine. both WIN XP, and WIN 7x64.

some folks says that MS NET FRAMEWORK can affect FSX, or MS VISUAL C++ which installed with OS by default, but i dont know if it true. You'll probably need some missing *.dll from that software for fix the sound, but gauges should work for sure.

my guess: something block aircraft from loading into FSX completely, so *.GAU files not loaded. or something block installation, so CS_B727-100\PANEL\ folder missing or incomplete.

btw, my FSX installed in custom folders and not on OS drive. both on old athlon 2800 with winXP and AVIRA as antivir, and i5 with win7 x64 with AVAST antivir. no problems at all. i have FSX acceleration.

Is it possible the gauges were not accepted as "trusted"?

Other than that, I strongly recommend that you configure FSX to always "run as an administrator". This is how to do it in Windows 7, so I suspect that Vista will be similar. Navigate to [FSX root folder]\fsx.exe and right click on fsx.exe (you probably wont see the extension because Windows, by default, will have "Hide extensions for know file types" selected), select properties from the list that pops up, then select the Compatibility tab. Down near the bottom you should see Privilege Level. Now place a tick in the box beside "Run this program as an administrator".

Because you have FSX in the default C:\Program Files (x86), Vista is very protective of all the files store there (including all sub folders). IF you have FSX running with the administrative authority, it can do what it likes. If not, Vista will prevent it from doing some of the things it needs or has to do. This applies to ALL files that you are trying to install in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x86). They MUST have administrative rights to make the changes required to make them work like they should. So always install FS add-ons with administrative rights.

yep. then i installing a new gauge, i get that pop-up window with warning and question if i want to put it to trusted list.

i guess if installer fails to register gauges in FSX trusted list - there might be that problem.

Thanks to those of you that have responded.
Markoz, yesterday I reinstalled FSX in C:\FSX it made no difference.
Now I am back to Prog Files x86.
I followed your advice in most recent post. I selected in FSX exe. run as Administrator. I even uninstalled 727 and redownloaded from server again. Just to cover all the bases. Even though some say not necessary, I shut down user acc. Still many gauges missing and non functional.
One thing is when I click on 727 exe, to start install box pops up stating publisher could not be verified. THis file does not have digital signiture that verifies its publisher. I just click on run. I don't know if that tells you anything. Not to many things left to do to get this baby up and running.

i got 707 and c130 today. installed it. Then i choose the aircraft, pop-up message appears asking if i want to run unknown file like cs.sound.gau, and after i answered YES another pop-up: Should i put that file into TRUSTED list.

Did you saw that pop-ups? maybe you windows configured to reject to run files without certificate? Those gau files dont have certificates.

YES! If you don't put those gauges in the trusted list, the planes won't work correctly.

Hi WJS,
I just installed the 727 yesterday.  I'm having the same problem you're having.  I came to this forum & read the other's advice to you.  Like you, nothing is working.  I have the upper F/E and the aux pannel that I can't even get to appear on my screen.
