I hear the 'ding' when I turn the signs ON or OFF, but not when turned to AUTO.
I DO hear the 'ding' when I'm above 10,000 feet and I switch the signs ON, but not when I switch them to AUTO or OFF.
I don't ever remember hearing the 'ding' when raising the landing gear (I only started hearing it in the 757 v4.5 and v4.6).
