Title: time compression
Post by passeur on Oct 29th, 2011 at 4:01pm
obviously my question is about time compression :
I'm wondering what are the difference in handling time compression between the 707 and the 757/767, I can fly the 707 in x8 time compression without problems but with the 757/767 if i go x2 (or even x1) the plane goes crazy.
I've saw other publishers payware aircraft that can handle x16.
Is it because 757/767 uses FSUIPC?

I personally don't have the time to spend 7 hours in front of the computer so I think time compression is an intersting feature (if the plane can handle it).

I know there are more important things to fix (porpoising with 757/767) but is there something that can be done to have a better plane response to time compression?

thanks for your answers!

PS : I know CS does not support time compression above x1

No. This is explained better in the Support Knowledge Base, than I can really do, but I'll try anyway. Because of the complex coding in the FMC of the Captain Sim 757 and 767, increasing the sim rate above normal (x2, x4, etc..) may cause the coding to get behind what needs to be done or what IS being done. This can cause it to "go crazy", as you put it.

I have problems with many of my airliners with complex FMC's and increased sim rates. These include "Other" 747-400/8i, MD-11 (never tried it in the NGX yet) and most others at that level of complexity in the FMC. So I fly at normal sim rate only (x1) to avoid crazy aircraft behavior. I have flown 16+ hour flights in the CS767 at normal sim rate of x1.

Hi passeur,

Why don't you save yours flights and reload them later, instead of using time compression? Althought some users insist telling they have problems to proceed a presaved flight I usually do it for all CS planes without any kind of problems, as long as following some simple steps after reloading the presaved flights. I also don't have time to spend in a full long haul flight, e.g. over 4 hours, but I don't like to use time compression because is not realistic. So, I save my flights restarting them later when I can proceeding. If you like, I can write a "how to do" for the CS B-707. If so, ask me and give me one or two days to do it.

Regards,

Pinatubo.

Markoz, thanks for the answers.
Stangely i've saw a friend's MD-11 going smoothly at x8 (he goes back to x1 for the turning points)

I was asking because my 767/757 used to fly well in x8.

Pinatubo,
I can save flights with the 707 and reload them after, but I never succeeded in saving a flight with the 767, can you do an "how to do" for the 767?

Of course, I'll try to do it in one or two days. :)

I've never been able to continue a saved flight in the Captain Sim 757 or 767. I always wind up in a cold-n-dark cockpit with the RAT deployed. :(

I can get by in the CS757/767 at 2x, but I have return it to normal for waypoints. My MD-11 and 744 porpoise badly when above normal sim rate.

I can save a flight with the 757 and load it without problem but it never worked with the 767.

"How-To-Do" to continue a B-767 saved flight.

Remark # 1- This works well for me, but not necessarily for anyone else.

1) Save the current flight as the default flight, copy and keep the original altitude, aircraft's heading, IAS (Mach), next waypoint and payload, e.g. 37,520 pounds, before [End Flight] or [EXIT].

2) When you like, start FS > [FREE FLIGHT].

3) Go to [Fuel and Payload...].

Is the payload the same as the original?

3.1) YES > [CANCEL] > Go to [FLY NOW!].

3.2) NO > Go to [CURRENT AIRCRAFT] > [Change...] > [Details] > Change the Flight number > [OK] > [OK].

4) Check the payload again. Now It should show the original one, e.g. 37,520 pounds. If not, change flight number again, or EXIT and restart FS.

5) [FLY NOW!] > (Simulation paused). Don't press [P] yet.

6) [Alt] > [FS Upper Tool Bar] > [Aircraft] > [Fuel and payload...].

Is the payload the same as the original?

6.1) YES > [CANCEL] > Jump to 7).

6.2) NO > Go to [Flights] > [Load...] and reload the saved flight, or if it still doesn't work, go to [Aircraft] > [Select aircraft...] > [Details] > [Flight number] and change flight number again, [OK], [OK].

7) [LNAV] > ON.

8) Press [P] and continue the flight.

9) As soon as possible > [A/P ENGAGE] > [CMD L] > ON.

10) Check Altitude [ALT]. It must be showing 10,000 ft. If so, increase it up to the original one, e.g. 33,000 ft, but don't turn off [HOLD] button.

11) Check if [F/D] is ON, and if the speed [IAS/MACH] needs to be adjusted.

12) Go to Overhead Panel [OH] > [TRIM AIR] > ON.

13) Open [CDU]:

13.1) > [PROG] > [POS REF] > [R6] > Check if FMC GPS is ARMED. If not, press [R1] button.

13.2) > [LEGS] > Check if next waypoint is correct.

13.3) > [RTE] > [PREV PAGE] > Enter the new flight number and then press [R2].

That's all.

Please, give me a feedback.

Remark # 2 - I've checked this way to do, exiting and restarting four times on a flight from KLAX to KJFK (~ 5 hrs) (see pic below), and excepting "dust excluders", sometimes showing up during flight, an old and well know CS B-767 bug, all others functions and commands have worked very well.

My Logbook since may of 2010, showing the B-767 flight from KLAX to KJFK:

Hope this help.

Thanks for all that Pinatubo. I'll have to give it a try.

You've done it differently to how I have used to do it. Who knows? This might work for me. ;)

I tired but i have the following messages:

I will try again  to see if I didn't make a mistake during the first try

Strange issue. Well, I did all my best efforts to help you, but unfortunately it seems there is something wrong at installation procedure or with your installer.

I suggest you to try the following steps, one each time:

1) Reinstalling the add-on using the REPAIR option, or;

2) Uninstall the add-on, clear all registry data [start > regedit.exe (run as administrator) > CaptainSim > 767CAPTAIN], restart PC and install it again, or;

3) If the problem persists, maybe your installer is corrupted. Clear all registry data as described above, restart PC, download the add-on again and try installing from the new installer:

Check-in to Your Profile > Select product > Extended Download Service > Get New Links;

4) Or if it still doesn't work properly:

Check-in to Your Profile then click Product Name > Customer Support > submit a Ticket.

Hope this help.

Hi Pinatubo.

I tried your method, but It didn't work for me. When I reloaded the 767, everything was as it should be with regards to heading, altitude, payload etc. But. The RAT was deployed, and the IRS didn't seem to align, even after I pressed LSK R1 to switch it from ARM to ARMED. It is possible that I may not have followed you instructions correctly, so I will try it again later. So far though, it looks like I'm getting the same results as I always have, even using the FSUIPC (registered) autosave feature.

Doing all the things that you suggested, in your previous post, will not make your method work (for me). I think it is a case of it works for some, but not for others. I'm one of the "others"! :(

Bad news, Mark. But as I said in my reply#8 - "Remark # 1- This works well for me, but not necessarily for anyone else". Maybe another user has another idea.

Pinatubo.

Edit: I've never installed FSUIPC...Will be this the difference?

I know you said it works for you and may not work for others, but my point was that by reinstalling the 767 Base Pack will not necessarily make it work for those who try your method without it being successful. ;)

FSUIPC gets installed with the 757 (prior to v4.5) and all the 767 versions from v1.0 to v1.4 (will not be needed once v1.5 gets here). So you must have it installed. Go to FSX\Modules and look to see if you have FSUIPC4.dll in there. If it's there, and it should be, it means that you are using FSUIPC4. You will not have the registered version, which you can purchase from simMarket, unless you have done that. But you will be using it because the CS767 must have it installed to work properly.
