Hi, I'm using with satisfaction on CSWeapon L39 Lotussim, I tried to install it on another plane The Sims Skunk Works F-104S, after selecting the model in the file CSWeapon.xml Loader installed correctly in the folder of the plane but when I open the I'm going to start the simulator and the flight does not appear in the menu ADDITIONAL MODULES CSWeapon, can you help me?

OK, I try to rephrase the question: the file appears correctly in the folder of CSWeapon.xml plane, when I start the flight with a plane on the runway I click the right mouse button on the desktop and I get in a bar up the options and choose MODULES but does not appear to display the panel weapons OK??

I'm not quite following what you mean. Is there any chance you can attach a picture to your post? It might help us to understand your problem better.

You mean the weapon control panel, the one with the rounds remaining, the master switch, ect. does not appear while you're in fsx?  :-?

You say it works (at least it sounds like that is what you are saying) with the Lotussim L39, but it does not work with The Sims Skunk Works F-104S. So Weapon for FSX is obviously working, but you are having trouble adding it to a third party aircraft.

If you search the forum you might find some ideas to try to get it working in the aircraft you want to. I have added Weapon for FSX to a few third party add-on aircraft and it works fine. I have not tried replacing those aircrafts HUD, I just bring up the 2D HUD and use it that way. This is because I'm too lazy to fiddle with the panel.cfg and replace the original HUD.

So my question is this. Is problem that you can not replace the F-104S's 3D (VC) HUD, but Weapon still works? Or. Is Weapon not working at all with the F-104S?

Hi Mark, Everyone!!

It has been a while since I have posted here as I had some health problems. I am doing alright now so here goes with a question about an issue I am having with the Captainsim weapons.
  I noticed that when I fire a gun or missiles I can hear them fire off but I don not see the missles, all I seem to be getting is the sound. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but to no avail. The aircraft I was testing it on is the captainsim F-18. I also installed it on a third party plne but got the same results.
  Hope you guys can give me some ideas. I appreciate any advice.

Hi Dan.

Welcome back. Sorry to hear about your health issue, I hope you are well now, and remain so in the future.

Try checking the setting for Advanced Animations in Settings > Display > Graphics tab > Global Options. It must be checkmarked (have a tick in the box).

  I did as you suggested but I still have the same problem. I can hear the guns and missiles but can't see any of them when fired.

Is this problem happening in FSX, or FSX-SE?
I ask because I have the same problem in FSX-SE, and I don't know how to fix it. Sometimes I see missile smoke trails, most times I don't, but even if I do, I never see the explosions of them hitting the ground.

I am running FSX Accelleration. I am not sure what SE is referring to. I am going to get a new download from Captain Sim and see if that corrects the issue. It might be something going on in my pc and not a problem with the Weapons pack.
  I am finding the issues related with FSX are more of a neat challenge than a "problem" anymore. The older I get and the more I delve into the wonders of FSX I don't really see a problem as I once did.
  The learning is part of the fun. And thanks for being around to offer help and advice. I will let you know what happens when I do a total new install.

Hi Mark,
I did a fresh download and install and I have the same problem. I took the CS F-18 up for a flight and the weapons even locked on the target and I fired the weapon and could hear it but could not see it and it gave no indication of hitting the target. I'm not sure what is happening.

Strange indeed! I'll see if I can figure out what's going on.

Note. FSX-SE is Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition. And though I hate to say it, it does seem to be better than FSX. :-/

That's strange. It's working fine for me. I'll uninstall it, remove the registry entry, and install/reactivate it in FSX-SE and see if it still works correctly for me.


Edit [timestamp=1513835327]: I did all the above, and it still works perfectly in FSX-SE (in Windows 7 Professional 64bit). It's very hard to do the above in Windows 10 Pro 64bit as I am still having strange problems with that OS.  :(

i'm using Dovetail Games - FXS steam edition,and already install/uninstall so many times but the result still the same,is there any other way to make the software run perfectly

Right click on the installer (csw001_1000.exe), select "Run as Administrator" from the list. This will ensure that the program is installed with admistrative rights, and that should allow it to run.

Out of curiosity, is Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition (from Dovetail Games) installed in C:\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX? I'm  wondering if installing it on the C: drive might be causing the problem. Mine is installed in M:\steamapps\common\FSX (on a different drive/partition even to where Steam is installed, which is E:\Steam).


Note. Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition, by Dovetail Games, is referred to as FSX-SE so we don't have to write the whole thing down each time we refer to it. ;)

I've try installed it on win 7 but still same result!

Try this:

1. Uninstall Weapon For FSX
2. Turn your Anti Virus off, or disable the shields (if you have that option).
3. Check-In to Your Profile > Select Product (Weapon [FSX]) > Extended Download Service > Get New Links
4. Download Weapon For FSX from the provided link.
5. After the download is complete, right click on the installer (csw001_1000.exe), and select "Run as Administrator" from the list.
6. After it has finished installing, go to x:\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX and find the fsx.exe file, right click on it, and select "Run as Administrator" from the list.

Once FSX-SE has started, select the Captain Sim Boeing F/A-18 Armed Defender, and any start location you want. When it is ready to fly, press Shift+1 to see if the Weapon Control Panel pops up.

Hopefully it will be working correctly.

So far I am enjoying the Steam Edition as it seems the graphics are better and the frame  is way better than I had expected it to be. I hope the weapons program will work in FSX SE.

I had to browse to the M:\steamapps\common\FSX location. This might be because my FSX installation details are still in the registry (even though the HDD/partition went AWOL). Not have a selection for FSX-SE on the installer, might mean you have to do what I did anyway.

I have FSX SE installed on my D drive. The pathway is set up in this fashion: Local Disk\Program Files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\FSX

I got it installed and it works wonderfully well. I just created the path way to FSX in the steamaaps folder. I installed Steam on my D drive not my C drive as I mentioned above, that was a clerical error on my part.


If anyone needs to know the path, this is the path I created. But be mindful of which hard drive the Steam folder is installed on.

computer\Local Disk D\Program Files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common/FSX

Steam allows you to install in other locations:

I have steam installed on my E: drive - E:\Steam - so if FSX had been installed there, it would be installed in E:\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX

I also have other steam libraries:

G:\SteamLibrary
I:\SteamLibrary
M:\SteamLibrary

So FSX-SE could have been installed in G:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX, I:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX, or M:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX. I chose to install FSX-SE on the M: drive because it's a small SSD (I consider it too small to install the OS on).

As you can see, my Steam games are installed across four drives/partitions.

Okay. This is the only other thing that I know of that has a chance of making it work - KB #685:



Q: How to reinstall a product?

A: Quite a number of "issues" are caused by using an outdated version of a product. Prior to submitting a support request please make sure you have current version of a product.

To reinstall a product please perform the following steps in exact order:
Uninstall the product:
1. Go to Start> Programs> Captain Sim.
2. Select the product you wish to uninstall.
3. Click uninstall icon.

Install the product:
4. Make sure you have the latest version of the product
5. Run the product installer (the .exe file) and follow the prompts.
Please note: valid Order Number and Internet connection are required for installation/activation. Make sure you enter Order Number as is, without any spaces or characters before or after.

Please make sure you run the installation file as Administrator and that "User Account Control" is disabled (for Vista and Windows7), it limits admins ability to install programs. Also, make sure your antivirus and firewall software is disabled during installation.

If a regular reinstall does not fix your problem you can try to clean registry.
Please be careful and do it at your own risk!

How to clean Registry:
PLEASE NOTE: THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS WILL NOT HELP IF YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH 777 CAPTAIN, 727 CAPTAIN, 737 CAPTAIN AND 1011 CAPTAIN!
1. Uninstall the product
2. Go to Start> Run. Type: regedit, click OK.
3. Find the product entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\ (please note, for Windows 64bit versions it is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CaptainSim\)
For example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\C130XPRO
Make sure you are going to delete correct folder!
4. Delete the product entry folder.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Install the product.

If you still have issues and the above does not help we must admit your system configuration is a rare exception. You can try to install the product on another system or request a refund.



The part that apples to you, is everything after How to clean Registry, and when reinstalling Weapon for FSX, follow the step under Install the product.
Note. The folder you need to delete from the registry, is named w001

Seeing as it's working in FSX now, you can try reinstalling it into FSX-SE, and it might work there as well.  ;D
