Make sure you have the latest version (2.4) of the 727. I think that in version 2.3, the weather radar only works if you own the CS Weather Radar. In v2.4, it is included in the 727 as a free bonus.

Just Flight does not have an update to 2.4 for their boxed 727. In the Captain Sim download version, the description, in the aircraft.cfg, still says it is v2.3. The only way to tell with the download version is from the file itself (csp721_2400.exe).

What happens when you press SHIFT+7? Does the 2D weather radar show? That would be another way of finding if it is v2.4.

Wanna know the added features in the latest version 2.4 of radar. How its different from 2.3 version?

The difference between 2.3 and 2.4 in regards to the Weather Radar are this:
In v2.3 you must already own the CS Weather Radar (and have it installed) for it to work in the VC Weather Radar.
In v2.4 you get the CS Weather Radar gauge included for free, so that whether you own the CS Weather Radar, or not, the VC Weather Radar works.

I own 727 v2.7 and use this radar since a long time but i was often disappointed to see that the display on it , didn't match with the weather i found front of my plane ( i use FSX realweather addon ).
Recently i've decided to make some tests : i set all the weather stations with a clear sky except one with a very bad weather ( clouds totaly overcast and thunderstorm )
Then i should see this area on my radar when flying front of this zone...
but nothing appear : only clear weather.
Then i deduced that this radar doesn't work properly and just show a random picture which "looks like" the weather you have set in the general weather setting of FSX.
I've submited a ticket to captainsim for this issue, but still no answers.

Do you have any opinion or suggest about that ?

While the Captain Sim Weather Radar isn't perfect, at the time of writing my previous posts it was the only Weather Radar, that I know of, that showed something close to what the weather was actually like. Of course you now have the REX, Active Sky, and a few other noted Weather Radars available that show the weather more realistic than the Captain Sim Weather Radar.

If you want to replace the 727WXR screen with a different one, you can change it in the panel.cfg by replace the gauge name, shown in bold below.
