Yeah. Very sad, I remember the first Space Shuttle launch in April 1981. It was awesome. What are the going to replace it with? :-/
Thanks to Captain Sim we still have a SSO that we can fly! ;) Mark |

I have some friends who work for NASA and they said that it will be replaced by a rocket (like the ones used in the early days of space-travel) but it will be state of the art. It looks pretty cool. Here's a picture of what I think it is.

That looks really nice. BUT. Does that mean the Astronauts come back to Earth in a capsule and a Splashdown? Charles Duke of Apollo 16 called it a crashdown because the capsule hits the water so hard!
I thought hey would at least try to maintain some form of winged "shuttle" for the return trip. It would be a lot better IMO. Mark Beam me up Scotty! Would be the best way by far! :D ;D ;D |

Maybe they will use special Very High Altitude Parachutes for their return to Terra Forma. :D ;D

The Saturn V was considered state of the art, too. ;) ;D It's sad to see the Shuttle go, I went down to Cape Canaveral last winter but it had already been retired. :( |

Maybe once they have entered the atmosphere and dropped to 130,000 feet, they will have to jump out of the capsule and parachute back to earth without it! ;D ;D |
