Title: 727 Startup problem with Airhauler
Post by gandy on Jun 25th, 2011 at 3:04pm
I have a small well minor issue with my 727-200F when using airhauler, The problem is i cant keep the avionics running for more than ten minutes which is making it impossible to use the auto pilot and radios.

When starting a flight through airhauler it just cuts the fuel and switches the battery off and all other switches remain in the default state, Now when i fly a normal cold and dark flight i can start the aircraft with no issues and i never lose the avionics which makes me think im missing something when im restarting the 727 as im following the normal cold and dark start up i think.

Does anyone have any idea what im doing wrong or is there a way to change the default state to cold and dark for any flight instead of engines running ??

Open the 727-100F/200F aircraft.cfg with notepad. Do a search for [electrical]. Once there add this line: electric_always_available = 1 below [electrical]. See below:

[electrical]
electric_always_available = 1
max_battery_voltage = 24.0
generator_alternator_voltage = 30.0
max_generator_alternator_amps = 400.0

Your avionics should now have power all the time.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mark :)

p.s.

do you know how to change the default state of the 727's so no matter where i start a flight it will start cold and dark or if its possible to edit a file what one would i need to edit.

Your default flight needs to be in a Cold-n-Dark state when you start FSX. I use the default C172 with everything (EXCEPT THE AVIONICS) turned off as my default FSX flight. Here is how (in case you don't know ;)):

Start FSX, select the C172 ans any airport of your choice and press Fly Now.
Once FSX starts, shut down the engine and turn everything, except the AVIONICS SWITCH, off.
Save the flight and place a TICK (checkmark) in the box beside "Make this the default flight".
That's it. It is now the default flight for FSX and every flight will start as Cold-n-Dark with the AVIONICS on.

The reason to leave the AVIONICS switch ON is so that they work from the start because there is no switch in the 727 to turn them ON or OFF.

i have another question :)

Does the 727 support a full save state like the 757 as i know they say you should use a default aircraft but i dont fly them as i would rather go through the full check list on start up and use a fully shut down 727 or 757 as my default flight or would this not work due to limitations in fsx ?

No. Captain Sim do not provide a way to save a "panel state". I don't know which 757 you refer to, but it can't be the CS 757. Perhaps in the future, they will provide a way to save the 'panel state'.

i know they say you should use a default aircraft but i dont fly them as i would rather go through the full check list on start up and use a fully shut down
Having the default flight set as I described previously, does not mean you start FSX and load that particular flight before switching to the 727 (or whatever aircraft you choose). All it does is set a simple Cold-n-Dark setting as the norm.
So if you were, while on the FSX Start page, to switch the aircraft to the CS727-100F, then changed the airport to a bigger airport with a cargo ramp, then press FLY NOW, you will find that the CS727-100F is in a Cold-n-Dark panel state ayt the new airport and cargo ramp.

Flight1 offers an FSX Safe Start up flight which is recommended for advanced add-on aircraft. Although I haven't used it, I believe it is very similar to the default flight I suggested.

Hope this helps.
