Title: 752 Static Thrust Change
Post by DAL191 on Jun 13th, 2011 at 6:13am

I found the thread I was looking for in the 767 Forum. Changed value from 60200 to 65500 and save the cfg file and all 763s' were still in select aicraft. Changed the 757-200 cfg file from 40177 to 42000 and all 752s' disappeared from select aircraft. Restored the cfg backup and the 752s' are back. Go figure. I am going to forget about it.

I changed the static thrust in my 752 aircraft.cfg from 40177 to 42000 and it worked fine. My 752's were still visible Exterior and VC looked like they always do. :-/

That's frustrating. I have probably changed 20-25 lines in the cfg file and never had a problem. Maybe there's a limit of 25 and after that the 752 just disappears.

Thanks

I think that the only things that can make it disappear are:

panel= a non existent panel
sim= incorrect .air file
model= a non existent model

Another thing that could cause that would be that something in the panel.cfg is horribly wrong.

There might be others, but at the moment I can't think of any more reasons. I have had this sort of thing happen in the 777-200 when messing with the alias to either the 737-800 VC or 747-400 VC. If I got something horribly wrong in the panel.cfg, no model was visible. So I had an invisible aircraft (it would have been really nice if Wonder Woman was in my invisible plane as well [smiley=evil.gif]).

Just to confirm that I uprated my static thrust with no ill effects. It certainly behaves better.

I checked all of the files you mentioned above and none of them have been modified since 2008-2009. I needed to make several changes in the aircraft.cfg concerning sound=IRIS so I thought if I bundled those changes with the static thrust change it might work. It didnot.

An interesting aside, I have a Dell laptop which has FSX and CS 757-200 on it. I was able to change the static thrust, save the file, and all of the 757-200s' appeared in select aircraft.

I am going to give up on this because it is not really that important and I don't want to really screw things up. Thanks for your help.

Why not copy those aircraft.cfg files from the laptop to you pc using a flash drive (USB memory stick or whatever it is you call them ;)).

The cfg file on the laptop is all Captain Sim liveries and the cfg on the desktop is with two exceptions which are CS is all McPhat liveries. Since the CS liveries were deleted thru ACE and McPhat's liveries added by applications I made changes to the cfg file, saved it, and all the 752s' were in select aircraft so I don't think the liveries had anything to do with this issue. I think the the way to go would be to reinstall the 757 and make changing the static thrust the first change. Then delete CS liveries and add McPhat liveries and make the 30 or so changes to folders and files as required. It's a long process and I am not going to do it just change the static thrust

I was all set to uninstall and reinstall the 757-200 and all the addons that I have that go with it when I decided to see exactly what model Pratt & Whitney and Rolls Royce engines are on the 752. So I checked the IDENT page of the CDU. It shows a PW 2037 and RR RB211-525E4. RR never made a 525E4 that I can find. They made a 535E4 which was rated a 40200. The PW 2037 was rated at was rated at 36600. The PW 2037 engine was the first generation engine used on the 752. The 535E4 was a second generation engine used on the 752. So where did the 40117 used by CS come from? Out of thin air? Plus the CDU shows a RR model that was never produced. What's the deal Captain Sim 2?

Here is the static thrust ratings for the 757-200

Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4
40,200 lb (179 kN)

Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4B
43,500 lb (193.5 kN)

Pratt & Whitney PW2037
36,600 lb (162.8 kN)

Pratt & Whitney PW2040
40,100 lb (178.4 kN)

and here is the static thrust for the 757-300

Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4B
43,500 lb (193.5 kN)

Pratt & Whitney PW2037
36,600 lb (162.8 kN)

Pratt & Whitney PW2040
40,100 (178.4kN)

Pratt & Whitney PW2043
42,600 lb (189.4 kN)

I can see where they got the 40117 from, it seems to more balance out the two engine model types with one aircraft.cfg.

I guess as i only fly the RR based 757-200 it would pay for me to edit mine to 40,200 or 43,500. But i am happy with the performance i get on climb from the engines.

Gandy

Since we are both concerned with the 752 let's just forget the 753 engine combinations. I fly both the PW and RR engined plane. On  the CDU of the Delta plane it indicates PW2037 as the engine. On the American Airlines CDU the IDENT page shows a RB211-525E4 which is probably a typo error. It probably should be RB211-535E4. The PW 2037 is 36600 thrust. The 535E4 is 40200 thrust. How does 40117 thrust constitute a good comprismise between 36600 and 40200 for the aircraft cfg file?

If you fly only RR engined 752s' I believe 40117 is close enough to 40200 for government work. As long as the CDU IDENT page is changed to refelect a 535E4 and not a 525E4 everything if fine for you.

I would like to see the CDU IDENT pages changed to PW 2040 and RB211-535E4 and then 40177 would be an acceptable thrust level comprimise.
We'll see what version 4.5 brings.

Is there anyway in the .mdl to change the FMC to state its PW2040 instead of PW2037 because the static thrust is PW2040 which changes the bird drastically increasing the MTOW from 220000 to 255000 which means bring more fuel on a fully loaded plane! ! !

It might be programmed into the Captain_Sim.b757.fms.gau (located in the FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200\panel folder). :-/
