Title: C 130 Landing Tutorial Post by ottoramsaig on Jun 6th, 2011 at 1:42pm
Got to admit that I am becoming quite good at landing the B 727 on ILS Approches but really want to get into the C130 landing procedures. After flying the B 727 and switching to the C 130 I have noticed that the C 130 seems easier to land using VFR. I need an understanding on how the military approch channels and the C130 ILS approaches are done correctly. Written or video would be most appriciated............thanks.

Normal landing :
at 25nm from destination airport during descend (vvi 500-800ft/min) ias 220kts => set flaps 10% continue approaching on final 12-15 nm @ias 180kts ==> set flaps 50% wait until ias 165kts ==> gear down (locked and checked) Air cond - no press (cabin altitude must set on descend passing 10,000ft value = destination airport elevation) Follow PAPI lights control ias 140kts until 800ft set flaps 100% *at flaps 100% ias =120kts 100ft flare (touchdown speed 95-100kts) ils no need.. ::) ::) **don't forget to calculate landing fuel weight (RTAF c-130H landing fuel 13,000-15,000lbs) |

I understand you may not need ILS but I want to know how for severe weather. We have C 130 Pilots here that use it with ATC.

Did anyone had "not enough rudder issues" ?
Landing at strong cross wind the rudder is not effective... :-? |
