Title: Lockheed L-1011 TriStar
Post by pj747 on Apr 4th, 2011 at 9:01pm
I have a great suggestion for a future Captain Sim product: The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar! The workhorse for many airlines, such as Delta, operating globally and domestically. It was used by the big names like Delta, TWA, and British Airways.

Your competitor that startswith a P and ends with a G with an MD in the middle has their MD-11, so why not have your own trijet Captain Sim/ it fits the bill of Captain Sim's classic jetliners.

That would be pretty cool. I'd like to see CS do some jetliners from companies besides Boeing (I love the current ones, I just want variety  ;)).

Like the DC-8, Convair 880.

The Convair 880 was one of the fastest jets of all time, going faster than even today's most modern airliners.

I think its pretty good looking too. It looks fast. Was America's third (and coolest) jetliner. Coollest for its day, doesn't equal the 747.

Interesting engines. What's the purpose behind the corrugation?

That makes sense (the sound suppressor). The Boeing 747-8 has a wavy nacelle, and I think that's for sound.

Yes it is, same for all GEnx engines liek the 787.

But what airline could you be with a DC-8?  There's a charter airline near me that uses them, But still?

Let's see since us Captain Sim customers like recreating the good old days... You can have the two biggest users of the DC-8 that are teh two biggest airlines now, United and Delta Air Lines, you can have Iberia, UPS, KLM,  Alitalia, Lufthansa, Canadian Pacific....

And still in use with:-
   * UPS Airlines (25)
   * Air Transport International (17)
   * Astar Air Cargo (8)
   * Meridian Airways (5)
   * BETA Cargo (4)
   * Expo Aviation (1)
   * National Airlines (4)

I think L1011 would be easier than the DC 8 because the DC 8 had so many wing modifications. I magine how many expansion packs Captain Sim would have to release! tHE l1011 would be easier.

I don't know... Besides the DC-8 could be easily streched and later teh same fuselage used for a possible DC-9. However I'd like an L-1011 too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC-8
if you read the variants section, it shows how many wing and engine changes there were. Too hard. Yes it could be stretched for DC-9 use but the only problem is that the MD-80 has already had loads of publishers make their own rendition, the DC-9 by Skysim, 717 by Perfect Flight(no offense, but room for big improvement) and MD-95. There isn't much choice as the Boeing narrowbodies.

Well the original DC-9 would be a shrink of the DC-8. Plus, you don't have to make ALL DC-8 variants...

Still cool, especially since its the second American airliner, and many airlines liek united and Delta used this exclusively, and nobody has ever done it for FSX.

Don't forget--Air New Zealand had the DC-8 too!! ;) ;)
Personally for me, I would love to see the DC-8, DC-10 or the L-188 Electra. The reason I say Electra is also because of the military variant the PC-3 Orion, which would fit with other cs products e.g. the 707, and would also introduce a bit of variety to the CS range(propliners).

I think somebody here may like Air new Zealand, but I don't know.

Why does the Captain sim -1011 not have a quick start option (please answer Captain Sim)? Unlike the real world, I frequently can only afford a limited time to virtual flight and do NOT want to spend a lot of it starting the aircraft. My CS L-1011 used to come up running, but today it came up cold (Captain Sim: how can I go back to it coming up running?). Bill

I think you can get everything up and running how you want it and then save that flight.   Then load it and I think engines and all that will be running.

If its the P3D4 one its easy. On the addons drop down there's a aircraft state menu and you can choose cold and dark, apu running, and ready for takeoff. As for the FSX version, there's tricks you can use that work for all aircraft.
