You can get to most intersections via VORs, DME and ADF only. Sure a lot of modern SIDs and STARs are RNAV and need some sort of "modern" navigation, but if you are following an airway, when you get to a given DME and/or cross-radial on a different VOR, then you are at an intersection.
Personally, this is what I love about the 727 is that its old school. Flew a flight from Miami to TNCM using airways and VOR. I've even disabled the keyboard shortcut to the GPS. I don't want to be tempted. As for the comment about online controllers, they should deal with you. You're not required to have a GPS in the real world, and they should accept a non-RNAV capable plane. |
