Title: wings of the 757 and 767 do not light
Post by frangollo on Mar 6th, 2011 at 9:39pm
The position lights on the wings of the 757 and 767 do not light.
This problem appeared after installing another plane that said if I wanted to change the lights and I said no.

Run the installation files for the 757 and 767 Base Packs, select REPAIR when it asks. Repair or uninstall are the choices.
Any changes you have made to any of the original files, will be reverted back to their original form when you do the repair.
And if you have added extra liveries, they will need to be redone afterwards as well.
I suggest you back up any files that have been changed, BEFORE you do the repair.

Hi frangollo.

Without the name of the other plane, it's hard to know what went wrong. PM me with that info and I'll see if I can figure out what went wrong. Who knows, I might even own a copy that one too.

I hope Captain Sim don't mind my doing that.

In all honesty, I can't see why installing the AS Piper Cheyenne could cause the Nav and Strobe lights on the wings of the 757 and 767.

CS757:
[LIGHTS]
light.0 = 9,  67.00,  -2.00,  5.19, fx_vclightwhi
light.1 =10,  67.00,   2.00,  5.19, fx_vclightwhi
light.2 = 7, -17.00, -47.00,  2.50, cs757_sf
light.3 = 7, -17.00,  47.00,  2.50, cs757_sf
light.4 = 8,  13.40, -17.47,  3.40, cs757_edge
light.5 = 8,  13.40,  17.47,  3.40, cs757_edge
light.6 = 5,  23.50,  -7.00, -3.50, cs757_edge
light.7 = 5,  23.50,   7.00, -3.50, cs757_edge

CS767:
[LIGHTS]
Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin
light.0 =  9,  70,  -2, 5.2, fx_vclightwhi
light.1 = 10,  70,   2, 5.2, fx_vclightwhi
light.2 = 7, -29, -58, 3,   cs767_sf
light.3 = 7, -29,  58, 3,   cs767_sf
light.4 = 8,  21, -19, 3,   cs767_edge
light.5 = 8,  21,  19, 3,   cs767_edge
light.6 = 5,  32, -8.4, -6.6,  cs767_edge
light.7 = 5,  32,  8.4, -6.6,  cs767_edge

It would mean that the installation of the AS Cheyenne deleted the cs757_xx and cs767_xx lights. And that's only if the position lights are not built into the model themselves.

The problem continues, I would like to reinstall it again but could you tell me where are all the folders to completely eliminate the 767?
Gracias

The folders that you need to remove, including the Expansion Model folders, are as follows.

For the 757:
FSX\Captain_Sim\757
FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200
FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200F
FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-300

For the 767:
FSX\Captain_Sim\767
FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B767-200
FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B767-300
FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B767-300F
FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_E-767_AWACS
FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_KC-767A

The bold blue text is the Base Pack folders, bold black text is the Expansion Model folders.

It could be worth considering doing a full uninstall. This includes cleaning the windows registry. KB #685 has all the details on how to do that. It also means you need to activate the products again, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Hope this helps.

I have two hard drives in my PC, one with Windows XP 64-byte and the other with Windows 7, 64 byte, the two operating systems have the FSX with Captaisim 767 of the problem after installing lights Cheyenne is Windows 7, Windows XP when I open the planes are perfect because in that operating system have not installed the darn plane

I uninstalled the 767 of Windows 7 and as usual there is no way to fix it, I copied the aircraft.cfg and panel.cfg and does not solve the problem,
Think it is good idea to restart 2 days ago?
Greetings

I installed the Cheyenne Piper PA-3IT in Windows XP 64-byte and wing lights 757 and 767 are perfect, so the error is on Windows 7, 64 bytes, but why?

Something obviously went wrong at sometime during, or after, the installation of the PA-31T. I doubt it was the installation that caused the problem though.

Whatever it was that went wrong, is hard to say. :(

Thanks for your help Markoz, I hope that there may be a solution somewhere before formatting the hard drive, now I only fly with no lights on the wings.

In the end I had to delete and reinstall the FSX, folders, settings, aircraft .... everything perfect now,'... I do not know anything about other aircraft that are not CaptainSim and I still think they are the only and best of all that exist in the market and every day I am more convinced of that.
Kind regards

Hi frangollo.

I'm sorry that you had to do all that to get the wing lights working. A clean install can make it run better sometimes.

I think I need to do a clean install of FSX and Acceleration as well as everything else to see if I can tidy things up. I just checked my FSX folder and it is now at 89.7GB now. And to think that I thought my FSX folder was huge when it had reached 60GB! :(
