Title: AI aircraft missing?
Post by hjcurtis on Feb 7th, 2011 at 7:45pm
I've installed the product and it works fine but none of the military AI aircraft appear.

Am I missing something? (other than the AI aircraft, of course!)

I can't see any evidence in my FSX directory of the AI aircraft either ...

Thanks!

Do you see the F-4 if you load a flight that comes in the pack?

2 issues

1 do not see ai aircraft. do not see f4 after flight loaded. Opened traffic exploer in free flight at AI traffic airports, lot of traffic but no CS ai aircraft. Opened FSX/senery/world/senery. and see CS traffic bgl's. AI aircraft are in fsx/sim objects/airplanes. tried to compile flight files, but still no CS ai traffic.

2 gun sound remains on after fireing.

I have only seen the CS AI traffic when I fly the F-4 at 12 o'clock flight. I have never seen them at any of the airports where I shoot down the Civilian AI (GA and Airliners) aircraft.

The first time I flew the F-4 flight I couldn't find the CS AI aircraft either. To find them, I turned on Show aircraft labels in Options > Settings > Display > Traffic tab. Since then I have learned how to find them using the radar in the F/A-18.
Another way to help you find the AI, when you first start the F-4 at 12 o'clock flight, is to climb a couple of thousand feet to clear the cloud/fog that you are flying in.

Hope this helps.

1. Try to set TRAFFIC sliders as per manual.

2. Install traffic tools from FSX SDK, they will help you to see what is going on around you in terms of AI traffic.

No CS ai shows in traffic tools. But ok because I use traffic tools/traffic explorer from drop down menu. Right click on that screen. and create CS AI aircraft anywhere in the world I want.

sorry for the stupid question: Where do I find the flights that come with the pack? Cause... I don't see any AI traffic also.

How many people that can't see the AI have ProjectAI, Military AI Works, World of AI or similar packs installed?

If you have, then you may not be aware that a single FS8 format AI file (such as those from the above freeware developers) will block ALL the native FSX traffic from running. Aircraft and ships.

This still remains the most common reason for not seeing FSX AI traffic, by a long way (although it does presume that the CS AI traffic is in an FSX native file format, which I haven't checked yet...  ::) )

Yes, our AI is in FSX format :)
And I confirm that some freeware add-ons can damage all FSX traffic.

Okay, I admit it, I am the most ignorant person alive.  I downloaded FSX SDK and its updates.  Going to start>Microsoft Games>FSX SDK I can find everything about what it does, but not how to access the tools section that will allow me to manipulate AI aircraft.  I am among those not getting any of the military AIs even though I've gone to the airports identified in the Weapons manual and set the sliders where the manual recommends.
I thought it would appear in the Add-ons drop down after opening FSX and a flight but it's not there.  Help!

The fsxsdk.chm is certainly lacking in many ways. I used to frequent Design Forums to get answers from those who had already solved issues (or could help me with those they hadn't). It's very disappointing that you need to request the help of other designers to get things sorted out. Sadly, it was the same for the help documents for the FS9 SDK's. Microsoft never learnt to provide better documentation. :(

We've just posted a traffic schedule that will help you to see specific aircraft at specific time and place.

As Captain Sim said, the traffic schedule could help. I personally like RKSI (Seoul-Incheon) at 00:00:00 GMT.

First of all, look in your SimObjects folder and see if there is a CS_Intruders and a CS_Intruders_Heavy. If there are, look inside and make sure that the traffic is actually in there.

If it appears that the traffic is indeed installed, crank up the traffic settings. I put mine at 68% airline (which isn't necessary, but I like to be evil and shoot down 737s) and thereabouts 78% general aviation traffic. It works like a charm--there's practically more AI than I can fight off--I'm firing sidewinders constantly.

Happy flying!

If you cannot load, or see, an aircraft after adding the Weapon for FSX to it, then there is a problem with the panel.cfg for that aircraft.

For example, to add Weapon for FSX to the IRIS F-14, you add it to all aircraft by adding it to only two models of the aircraft, the IRIS F-14A Tomcat Clean, and the IRIS F-14B Tomcat Clean. So IF you add Weapon for FSX to the wrong model, it won't work. The reason it doesn't work is because the other models have a single entry in their panel.cfg file that points to either of those two models. Like this

[fltsim]
alias=\IRIS F-14A Tomcat Clean\panel

If you were to add Weapon for FSX to the IRIS F-14A Tomcat ACM, then it won't work because the rest of the panel will be missing. To get it to work in that model, you must add Weapon for FSX to the IRIS F-14A Tomcat Clean model.

I hope this helps.

Note. I understand that you are angry, but there is really no need to use ALL CAPS in your post. It's considered shouting, but we can read it just fine in normal case. ;)
