Title: B-52H Fixes - Download Here Post by TurbofanDude on Feb 2nd, 2011 at 12:19am
Hello Captain Sim community,
HvyEng and I have created fixes for the BUFF cockpit that fix/adjust the following: *All typos *Flight Dynamics *Battery Sound (changed which one it was using) *Added new Fuel flow lines *Added new Hydraulics System Textures *Removed "Rat Fort" joke *Adjusted Circuit Breakers Get the update here - just install to the CS_B52 folder in the Microsoft\Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes folder http://www.mediafire.com/?13bkdf9r964ckqb THIS PACK IS NOT A FREEBIE AND IS USELESS WITHOUT THE CAPTAIN SIM B-52. IT'S A FEW TEXTURES AND A .CFG FILE WITHOUT THE SOUNDS, NOT PARTS OF THE PRODUCT |

Thanks Collin and HvyEng for your work there. I'll try this in the next days and I'm exited about it.

Collin, I was wondering where the sound cfg. file goes ? I have the rest of it under control. Thanks for the fix.

The sound.cfg replaces the sound.cfg in the CS_B52\sound folder, so the structure of that small package actually represents the SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B52 (sub)folder structure.
This hopefully helps you. :) |

Thanks CoolP. You are correct. The way the folder structure is set us was by design to make it easier to install.

What exactly was changed in the flight dynamics?

The thrust, speed settings, and drag, as well as payload to allow it to takeoff like a real one (or closer to it)

Thanks, that explains a lot. I fly with a group and 4 of us have the B52. Three of us match speeds but one lagged behind a lot speed wise, and he is the one that installed your mod. Now we know. |

When and what group do you guys fly with?
Would be nice to get in a session with multiple Buffs piloted by human pilots. : ) |

Er... what's the "rat fort" joke?

Copilot's yoke. Some of the letters are blacked out, so it says stRAToFORTress.

Oh. I haven't looked at the copilot's seat much. I don't think I'll hear a phrase as strange as "Rat fort joke" for awhile... ;)

I would like to add my thanks to Collin and HvyEng for their good work on this project. I too was surprised to see the high angle of attack on takeoff and the rocket to altitude on this bird. After applying the fixes, I was happy the the airplane flies in FSX about like I would expect it to if I were flying the real thing. Good work!

Just trying this improvements on my new B-52. I have 2 questions:
1. Is this normal that I'am about 20K lbs over max gross weight with full tanks? 2. I've discovered that the "max indicated speed" was changed from 560 to 390 - which reference was used there for this value? EDIT 22:05: boeing247 wrote on Mar 15th, 2011 at 4:45am:
Alright after studying some real photos from B-52 the 390 max KIAS Indicator is right. And, the "Rat Fort" at the copilots horn was intended - you can see this also on real photos. I suppose this is because the cockpit is not very comfortable and tight ;) |
