Title: Pre-release manuals are available
Post by Captain Sim on Dec 4th, 2010 at 6:42pm
Gents-
As you have noticed the B-52 forum is on top now. What that supposed to mean? Right, forthcoming release! :)

It's not going to happen this weekend, but we'd like to give you atleast something. The something is "Pre-release manuals part I and II" available for your reading pleasure.

We hope the manuals will provide some idea of what to expect from the B-52 Driver release.

Having looked at the pre-release manual part II, I can hardly wait for the release. The detail of the interior is fantastic and I look forward to the challenge of learning to fly this behemoth. I have no doubt I will feel the need for a flight from Guam to Viet Nam.

Too bad it's not possible to drop bombs. Just kidding. That war ended years ago. ;)

I was wondering how this bird will do with nap of the earth flying? I have seen some great video's of the BUFF flying very close to the ground.

All I can say is WOW!!!   I can't believe my eyes.   The VC looks amazing.   I can't wait for this release.  I was wondering how you were going to make the terrain following radar display look.   Though that kind of display is a mode of the radar in the B-52,  that is not the actual display you would see.   DSB puts out a terrain following radar display that looks very much like that of what you would see in  a B-52 during low-level flight.   Still,  I'm certainly not complaining.   One question though,  are you going to make moving EVS turrets?   It is rare to see a Buff flying without at least one turret open.   They usually fly with both open.   You could have the turret power tied to the EVS control panel.   When you select STV,  the left turret would open,  and when you select FLEER (shouldn't this be FLIR,  for Foward Looking Infra Red?),  the right turret would open.   And when selcting CRAB,  both turrets would turn to the same angle as the landing gear.  Speeking of landing gear,  my jaw dropped when I read about the landing gear crabbing.   For you to put it in this model is unbelievable.   You guys are truly amazing.   Thank you so much for this beautiful Bird!

Actually,  Markoz,  you can drop bombs.    Download the US Weapons pack by Chris Sykes, follow the included instructions,  and now you can drop bombs with this Buff,  or any aircraft you wish.   Unfortuneately you won't see the boms loaded on external pylons or in the bomb bay,  but you will see them fall from your aircraft,  and see and hear them hit the ground.   I've intalled the package into my buff,  and have used it with great success.   And from the external view,  it looks awesome.

Looking good Captain Sim.  However, will the final product include a detailed checklist?  If so, could we get a preview of such a checklist to further understand what is modeled/functional?

Although I would love to see bombs in the bomb bay and being able to drop the bombs could be fun, I really don't care if they can or can't be dropped.

I wouldn't be surprise if the Part III - Normal procedures manual only comes with the B-52 Driver download, much like the Part III manual of the Captain Sim Space Shuttle: Part III - Flight Procedures is not available as freeware download.

Hi Jeff.

I noticed that when I bought it too. I guess that means that it will be available in a day or two (hopefully). Like what happened with the 707 when it was released.

This was one of my concerns which is why I asked if they will be included with the final product.

I'm going to hold off purchasing until I know a checklist is out.

Fair enough.
As you know we do not include manuals in the pack, but anyways Part III is in production and will be available before this weekend.
