Hi :)
First of all I would like to thank all of you in the Captain Sim Team for starting on this amazing good old classic. I really can`t wait until it`s out, I am so exided:p All of your previous models have been absolutely amazing and outstanding!! And I`m sure this one will be to. The quality and details of your work are in such detail that I don`t have words for it:p I know it might be late to ask for it, but I would give it a try anyhow...I am Norwegian, and we seems to be forgotten since we are such a small country. In the 70`s 80`s and early 90`s the Norwegian company Braathens SAFE had a lot of B737-205. Would it be possible to get one on the livery list? http://www.airliners.net/photo/Braathens-SAFE/Boeing-737-205-Adv/0743459/L/&sid=e6f215f2432285fdbfee129c2c0e59b6 Best regards Robin:) 1190166.jpg (Attachment deleted)

I don't think they'll be able to fulfill that request because you know what's gonna happen. If they follow you and add another livery, then as soon as others find out that happened, they'll be tons of requests to CS asking for their liveries to go up as well. Don't worry, someone third party will make your repaint, and same with mine! I requested Air North "Yukon's airline" repaint for the 732, but someone will make it eventually! :) |

I have a question for repainters. How do you get photorealistic paint jobs on aircraft? I may try to make a repaint myself.

The liveries look like excellent launch choices, and unlike the others I will not make requests as the repaints will be forthcoming once a paint kit is made available.
My concern is the lack of a freighter in the repaints selected. Does that indicate that the freighter is not being produced as a part of this pack? |

Seriously, Southwest not included. I know, I know, someone will do a repaint.
Just trying to figure out your justification for your liveries. Southwest was at one point the worlds largest operator of the 737. Matter of fact, a few of the 200 we had we got from American. Of course, I might be a little biased...I fly for them. :) looking forward to the release, non the less. I enjoyed flying the ole girl. Felt like a sportscar, unlike the 3,5,700 which sometimes feel like your flying a mac truck around. Best, David |

Title: Re: Approved liveries Post by Markoz on Nov 20th, 2010 at 8:29am
Somehow I think most have missed the point of the Topic. Unless I'm wrong. I thought that ones shown in the links in the original post are the ones Captain Sim are going to do and will come with the 737.
737-100 = Lufthansa, Continental Airlines and Air Florida. 737-200 = American Airlines, Air France, British Airways, United Airlines and Canadian North. I can't see Captain Sim doing any others because the list is getting huge. Going by the final statement: Of course the '737 Captain' will come with high quality repaint kit. So we hope all liveries requests will be fulfilled one day. Any others will be done by those who want to do a repaint. Mark |

Title: Re: Approved liveries Post by High Iron on Nov 21st, 2010 at 1:01am
I think "add this" and "add that" is personally unrealistic. If C.S. did every livery we requested we would never see the thing released. Keep in mind folks the length of service and popularity of this aircraft means there are hundreds of "pick me!" liveries available. Due to the scope of options and the quality of the finished product, these would be best left to third party developers such as McPhat Studios. Look at their works for just the C.S. 757 alone, to get the picture of what is being done with C.S. products. The 737 Captain will have as much, if not greater potential than that. My choice, CP Air, was not one chosen, but I am not disappointed. We are after all getting our long awaited 737, and that is of far greater importance to me than wether my personal livery of choice was included or not.
Cheers, Thad |
Title: Re: Approved liveries Post by Mark McCoy on Nov 21st, 2010 at 5:22am
Thad,
I don't think that's the purpose of the thread. It's just a list of requests, most if which will likely not be chosen but each of which will be given some level of consideration. No harm done. I don't think anyone is of the belief that CS plans to incorporate all of these suggestions. |

No doubt VASP livery is very required for release package. VASP fly with 737-200 between 1969 until 2005 when airline shutdown. For many time is largest latin american operator of 737-200. The unit PP-SMA besides SMB, SMC fly since July 1969 until airline shutdown.
VASP is very very required paint on release package. Another south america is AEROLINEAS ARGENTINAS and AEROSUR. |

Don't worry, I don't think a Janet repaint sould be too much trouble once the paintkit is released. I do agree that the official set of liveries looks very limited for such a widespread aircraft though. Cheers Nico |

I agree and fully support your request. Besides, its in the news this week that the largest airline in the world is now LanTam (Lan Chile and Tam Brazil). But I disagree with your Vasp choice. I love Vasp but the classic paint, elegant, not that one you posted, which is the face of its bankruptcy. Its like the modern Varig paint, just rubbish. The good ones are the old, golden age, when good service was given. If you are too young, you missed it. http://www.airliners.net/photo/VASP/Boeing-737-2A1-Adv/1158437/L/&sid=e999cc68a5d29590fc53f425afdd071f K |
Title: Re: Approved liveries Post by starpirat on Dec 19th, 2010 at 10:01am
The choice of 4 of the 8 liveries were American so it was clearly a financial decision.
Why "Air-Florida" was chosen as opposed to Qantas, a flight sim and real life regional oceanic asia pacific international airline astounds me. As i said, its a financial decision. |

I agree, its a pitty we depend on the random will of free developpers to bring new liveries, specially because with time old developpers drop out of the hobby and new kids drop in, and these new painters only care for their generation or the generations close to their decades. So old paints from the 70s will become more and more difficult. Many new painters think that "old" is the 80s, and their recollection of the 737-200 are from the 80s. To me the 80s was the downfall of the 737-200. :) K |

What on earth are you talking about? They chose the liveries of some of the most prominent 737 Classic users. Since Qantas have never owned -100/-200s, there is no such livery to depict. |
Title: Re: Approved liveries Post by Markoz on Dec 20th, 2010 at 5:35am
I think that the thing to remember here, is that there will be a quality repaint kit, so many liveries will have to be requested from the well know repainters. Or you will need to do them yourself.
Although I would love to see a 737-100 and 737-200 in the Qantas scheme (fictional, of course), I'm beginning to think it is time for me to learn how to do repaints so I can do it/them myself. As for those requesting that Captain Sim do this livery, or that livery, so it will be available in the release, I doubt you will get them. From the original post by Alex, the three 737-100 and the five 737-200 liveries listed, are the one we will see when it released. I think this particular line says it all: Of course the '737 Captain' will come with high quality repaint kit. So we hope all liveries requests will be fulfilled one day. Mark |

I really hope a repaint comes out of a USAF Boeing T-43A Bobcat (737-253)...better known as a 'Gator.' They called it a Gator in the air force because they used it to train navigators. My father was an instructor navigator in T-43s from 1999 to 2003 at Randolph AFB, not to mention the fact that he trained in T-43s when he was in the USAF Nav school back in 1982 when it was at Mather AFB. My father went on to fly B-52s and B-1Bs in the USAF. I already have the CS B-52 Driver and Virtavia's B-1B, it would be nice to complete my collection of aircraft my father flew in the USAF with a CS 737 repainted as a T-43A.
This particular bird is on display at Randolph AFB, as they USAF T-43s were retired last year. http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Air/Boeing-T-43A-(737-253-Adv)/1792573/L/&sid=7ab9baf2d283af4269b4743062edf543 And here is a close up of the nose art. You can notice the N-number is N234WA, distincitive of Delta Air lines, as they never changed the N-numbers of aircraft after a merger.
This one came from Western Airlines |

I also agree with ayster on the Boeing livery. |

I had an hard time to place flower of the Aloha livery.
The rudder is not only rotate but I think is also scaled. But is obviously to fit all in the texture. Another annoying is the GI layer on cs737_08_T which is different and make more darker against the other. Yes the wireframe would help a lot |

I cannot think of an airline or country that loved its 737-200s more. They served during wartime, and spanned the period from 1970-2009 in operational service.
http://www.aerolineas.com.ar/arg/main.asp?idSitio=AU&idPagina=68&idIdioma=en&cmbPrensa=233 http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/general_aviation/read.main/4232473/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tnn4EFnnMAY&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I31AOSmciyo&feature=related I certainly got a bit misty watching the love they had for the -200. Their "Chancha" deserves a talented painter's touch. LV-ZEC would be great, but please if someone carries this torch, please oh please do so with the "pre-Iberia" livery. Nothing looks better on these birds than polished aluminum or perhaps the A over A livery. |

You think you can do Delta? [/quote] Notice the Delta 737 is a bit dirty at the end of the fuselage, by the engines exhaust...This is something I miss in most repaints of old clasic jet repaints. In the 60s, 70s and 80s planes werent painted every three months you know, so after one year, the jet would show stains of fumes or dirt in certain parts. I think it adds great realsim cause that was the way they looked when I flew them. Many repaints of old paints are to whitish and clean that actually what it does is prove its a drawing. For a repaint to look realistic it must have even the faults of reality. My advice when you do repaints old or new, is try to look for photos where the paint have this real look, small stain parts may be visible or not. For example, pay special atention to grey-metal areas. If you are a young repainter (under 30 y/o) you probably never saw these, and are more familiar with modern airlines. The current status of airlines is they lease, unlease, loan, rent, sub-contract planes all the time, many new low-budget airlines that are short lived with no tradition, and need fancy paints as part of their flashy marketing strategy. Not to mention fictional airlines. If old classic paints dont "touch" you, dont do repaints of old classic jets. Stick to Airbuses or NGs. Sometimes a small detail helps to give the overall repaint a much realistic appearance. This Vasp repaint I curetnly used is great in that sense. Its a repaint done by Adriano Martoni in 2004 (yes, 7 years ago!) on an Eri Cantu model. Good ol painter. Hope my input helps. vasp2.jpg (Attachment deleted)

Everybody being entitled to their opinion, but I say we do the repaints that were real before we do the fictional ones, as TWA never operated the 737 (they had orders for 50 A318's prior to their dissolution and merge into American in the late 90's). So that can be done, but of course, after the historical ones are done, I believe them to be more important at this time. |

Hello,
Frontier AL in final stage. Took me longer than expected as I did more in painting and detailing (as per Kapitan's advices). Finally I couldn't resist to add more animals :) Schedule to finish latest end of november. tn_F9FrontierAL.jpg (Attachment deleted)

Hi there,
Played around today with Dirt-shop ;) making the plane look a bit used. I took some pics from different positions. Would be glad to have your opinion if it's too much or not enough. Many thanks and best regards, Lex tn_FrontierWeatheringTrial.jpg (Attachment deleted)

I think the Frontier repaint looks great, but the aft fuselage looks a little bit too dirty, hehe...it looks like it's got dust and grease and in real aviation that has to be cleaned before the plane takes off. But other than that that repaint looks awesome.

Would anybody please accept a req for this first Air paint on the 200 as a tribute to all the victims and survivors and SAR personal. The Drummer was crashed on approach to Resoulte Bay in Aug, all aboard lost except two and SAR personal where on scene the instant the flight crashed.

The 737-200 Air France, and Lufthansa liveries should work fine on the 737-200ADV. Copy the texture.af and texture.luft folders from the CS_B737-200 folder into the CS_B737-200ADV folder. Edit the aircraft.cfg (backup your aircraft.cfg BEFORE making any changes) by adding the following: [fltsim.2] title=CS 737-200ADV Captain Paint2 sim=csx732 model=adv panel= sound= texture=af kb_checklists= kb_reference= atc_id=F-GBYA atc_heavy=0 atc_airline=Air France atc_flight_number=0001 ui_manufacturer=Boeing ui_type=737-200ADV ui_variation=Air France ui_typerole=Commercial Airliner ui_createdby=Captain Sim description=737 Captain (737-200ADV Expansion model) v1.8\n(c) 2017 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com [fltsim.5] title=CS 737-200ADV Captain Paint3 sim=csx732 model=adv panel= sound= texture=luft kb_checklists= kb_reference= atc_id=D-ABFC atc_heavy=0 atc_airline=Lufthansa atc_flight_number=0001 ui_manufacturer=Boeing ui_type=737-200ADV ui_variation=Lufthansa ui_typerole=Commercial Airliner ui_createdby=Captain Sim description=737 Captain (737-200ADV Expansion model) v1.8\n(c) 2017 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com Save the changes. Now you should be able to see the Air France, and Lufthansa 737-200ADV liveries. |

Is there anyone out there that would be willing to make a PSA (Pacific Southwest Airlines) 737-200. I'm trying to complete the PSA 1975 collection. I have the L-10-11, the 727-200, both with the smiling PSA livery. All that is missing in my 1975 PSA hangar is the 737-200. I have the Captain Sim 737, I just need someone out there to make a PSA livery for it. I'd be willing to donate funds to make this livery a reality. Feel free to message me.
