I do it by pressing Shift+P then 1 or 2 on the top row (not the numpad 1 or 2). There is definitely something wrong with the pushback on the 727 when compared to the rest of my FSX aircraft (default or add-on). If you have the 727 at Gate where backing out is going to be a squeeze, there is no way it will turn much before you have stop it. In that kind of situation, your best bet would be to either park at a better Gate or use the slew command to turn the 727.
