6 is not a fault code but as far as I remember the action code 06(I'm a former flight engineer and I used these INS on the DC8 and the DC10 I flew)
When you enter the plane position, you can get a warn with an action code 06. The correct procedure then is to place the selector on DSTRK/STS, you press TEST and most of the time you get an error code 41. Press again TEST and you will see the red warning light goes off. The reason is that you have a discrepancy between the last position recorded by the INS and the present position inserted(That can happen if your plane has been moved to another parking spot far from the arrival parking spot of the previous flight ;)
