Modify the sound.ini file in the FSX\Captain_Sim\757 folder. Back it up first. Just in case you mess it up. ;)

Change this line: SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=1 to this: SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0

It's the fourth line down from the top of the page. That should fix it.

Hope this helps.

Mark

There's nothing like quoting myself from another topic! ;D

That should stop the sound you are hearing outside the plane when it is shut down and supposed to be quiet.

Thanks Markoz
for their quick response but had modified the file, and continues with the same error.
Is there any other changes possible?

Frangollo :)

As I stated above. That is all I need to do with my CS757 and I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

The only other thing I can think of is the msvcr71.dll, although I thought that was needed to give the sounds and not take them away.

Did you change the SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused=1 to SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused=0 as well? Although I find I don't need to do that one, it could help. Also. Are you sure you are not hearing something else? I have heard other AI jets or vehicles engine noises and mistaken them for the Captain Sim 757 or 767.

Hi again Marc, the truth is I do not understand it, Windows XP does not happen in this error. In the 7-64 bits of Windows when I select a different plane, the silence is total, in and out of the plane.
but with the 757, the engine noise is heard from outside the plane.

I changed this line:
SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew = 1 of this: SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew = 0
and also:
SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused = 1 to
SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused = 0
I have also copied msvcr71.dll

Thank you

Frangollo :)

Hi Frangolllo.

That is really strange. I have used the same method for stopping those sounds in Win XP Pro and Win 7 Pro 64bit. It has always worked fine in both of them for me.

Are you making the changes to the sound.ini file using Administrative rights? It could depend on where FSX is installed. If it is in the default location (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games etc...) then it could be being blocked by Win 7 security. My FSX is on a separate 500GB hard drive and I don't have the security issues with it.

I copied the aircraft.cfg, panel.cfg, 757 sound of Windows XP to Windows / 64-bit and as usual

I have my FSX here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X

I take it you were asked to provide administrative rights to overwrite the files?

I don't think that the default location for for FSX in Vista and Win 7 is not the best place because of the security restrictions that those OS's have. I have heard that installing it to "C:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X" is a better place to install FSX. I've been lucky that I have more than one HDD so that I can install it where-ever I want to, away from those security problems.

Hello again, the truth is that this problem is to go crazy, I've uninstall and reinstall the 757 and continue listening to the engine noise just outside the aircraft and the engines stopped.
Best of all is that I solved it when that windows 7 does not ever ask me that I have permission to copy, move, delete etc..
As if someone is interested to write on START ( inicio ) and check it UAC and never say you do not have permission.

Rename these 3 files (757idle.wav & x757cfm.wav & x757idle.wav) in the sound.PW and sound.RR folders.

No more annoying "ghost engine sounds"

Oh NO! I must be getting old. I forgot about that.

I use a batch file, that I made, to do that for me when I install the 757 and 767.

Sorry frangollo
