Has anyone manager to control vertical speed with physical buttons?

I�ve assigned the following commands via FSUIPC to one of my joysticks.

AP_VS_VAR_INC
AP_VS_VAR_DEC

In other planes, such as in Realair Duke, VS can be changed by pushing the buttons, but nothing happens in this baby.
