I think different people enjoy different aspects of the sim. Personally I'm totally into the systems side - I like to know what is the "right" way of doing things, and I like to plan and execute accordingly.

Whether or not the airplane actually flies exactly on the numbers or not is not all that important to me (as long as it is not completely off). The size of the gauges and the accuracy of my hardware throttle means that trying to set EPR with accuracy to the second decimal is impossible anyway. I just enjoy it more if I know that I'm shooting for 1.84 EPR when setting takeoff power ...

I know that a lot of people couldn't care less, they just want to enjoy flying the thing. I respect that, it just doesn't work for me.
