Title: TSS Sounds behaviour
Post by Markoz on Jul 28th, 2010 at 4:20pm
I did a search for a Topic in here (767 Captain - General) on the TSS Sounds for the 767. I found only two, but not the one I believed I had seen. Maybe I imagined it, because it sure feels like I did. Anyway. I was sure that a few people had said that there was a problem with some of the cabin sounds not working after they had bought and installed the TSS - Boeing 767 GE/PW/RR Soundpacks.

Now to the point. I had played the YouTube videos (quite a number of times) and I have to admit that they really do sound great. So. About a month ago I decided to buy the TSS 767 GE/PW/RR Soundpacks and install them. I then noticed that some cabin sounds had just disappeared and I was somewhat disappointed, so back to the original CS engine sounds I went. Well, three days ago I decided that I was willing to miss out on some cabin sounds because the TSS Soundpacks really do make the CS767 sound great. Lo and behold! All the sounds are there! They are all working just like they should. I have no explanation for this, other than all I did was rename all the sound folders. So now I have those great TSS 767 engine sounds as well as all my cabin sounds.

Has anyone else had something like this happen? It just seems so weird that the sounds disappeared only to reappear later. I have done quite a few flights these last three days in the CS767. Not one sound problem in that time (touch wood).

I installed the TSS Sounds for the GE and PW for the 767. I didn't notice any sounds that disappeared. However when I do ANYTHING in the 2D cockpit such as changing a value in the altitude window or turning on the seatbelt sign the sound volume decreases slightly for maybe 3 seconds and then returns to normal. This is across the complete line of CS products I have including the 757-200 and the 757-200F. No other planes were affected. It might not have anything to do with TSS. Whatever I will live with it just to have the sound of the engines and flaps.

Hi Mike.

I don't use the 2D cockpit because I'm a VC only pilot (if it's available). Because of this I haven't noticed any sounds increasing when changing anything in there. I might give it a try and see if I have it happen. I do click on some of the "click points" on the OH panel so that just those gauges/knobs etc. are showing and I don't recall hearing any changes. I was really strange that the first time I installed them, I lost the seat belt, no smoking and flight attendant/captain (there might have been others) announcements.

But as I say, they are back and working and I'm very happy they are. ;D

The strange thing there is that I didn't do anything that I don't normally do when I install the CS767. Before I upgraded my computer, I had noticed that with the TSS 767 sounds, my cockpit announcements were missing. They are back now.

I ALWAYS change the 767 sound.ini file (FSX\Captain_Sim\767\sound.ini) to this:

[Common]
Refresh.Time=10
Sound.Directory=Captain_Sim\767\sound
SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0
SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused=0

SoundOffWhenSimDialogIsOpen=1
SoundOffWhenSimSoundIsOff=1

It was like the TSS 767 sounds were blocking the cockpit announcements.

I have never needed to do the msvcr71.dll fix.
