But in Win7, I make one change to the sound.ini file:

from this:

SoundOffWhenSimSoundIsOff=1

to this:

Sound.Directory=Captain_Sim\727\sound
SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0
SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused=1
SoundOffWhenSimDialogIsOpen=1
SoundOffWhenSimSoundIsOff=1

and then when I load the 727 into FSX, all I need to do is reload it and the sounds start working like they should.

I have CTRL+SHIF+R assigned to Aircraft (reload) in SETTINGS > CONTROLS > BUTTONS/KEYS.
