Where is the Altitude Select for the Autopilot?

So far...12 views...no answers.  The altitude selector (for autopilot) and frequency selection (nav/com) have left me scratching my head.   :-[

If I remember correctly, as a 707 autopilot does not have a dial to key in your altitude. You have to climb to your cruising altitude; using the vertical speed on the autopilot, and then press the altitude hold button.

RichardH is correct, there is no way to "dial in" an altitude and have the 707 climb to it and level off.  There is what is supposed to be an altitude warning device above the yoke.  You can use your mouse to set it to an altitude to give yourself a visual reminder, but it does not give any aural warning as you reach the set altitude. Watch for the altitude and when you get to it, level off and hit the altitude hold toggle switch.  The 727 has the same altitude warning device, but it works correctl, sounding a gong 1,000 feet below target altitude when climbing and 1000 above when descending.

As for the frequency selection, go to the 2D panel and either click the radio stack icon (it looks like a radio tower) or hit Shift+3 and the radio stack will open.  Nav radios are the top left, comm the right right.

Altitude select ok, except when you reach an altitude and then want to climb or descend on autopilot, this is impossible...unless I'm missing something.  Frequency selection still a problem.  Can dial in the first part but not the ".__" frequencies, e.g. 116.__, 110.__, etc.  ADF/HF also a headache.  Thus, no navigation capability, and would preclude any type of approach.  Communication (other than HF) can be taken care of with the ~ key.

Finally figured this out...e.g. 116.__ can be "dialed in" using the right click method.  Thanks all for your help.

The closest you come to "climbing on autopilot" is to trip off the altitude hold toggle switch and then repeatedly click on the 6 o'clock position on the round knob.  This will start a climb and the more you bump the knob the faster the rate of climb.  To descend just click on the 12 o'clock position.  When you have climbed or descended to the desired altitude click the altitude hold on.
