Title: Shuttle Questions
Post by SimJack on Dec 28th, 2006 at 12:16pm
Cap. Sim & Company,

Having installed the shuttle, I think there is a lot of potential in that arena. I know this is a step in a direction that has never to my knowledge be attempted in flight simming.

Questions

I have noticed a few things that perhaps can be clarified.

1) I assume that you have to use one of the three missions to get started. Yes, I read the manuals but I think there should be a little clarification.

2) When choosing the re-entry mission, the game is in slew mode, hence that is why the shuttle it is not orbiting or moving. Any particular reason for this? Why is the shuttle have to operate in the slew mode? I did notice that while sitting on the ground and slewing up, it would stop at about 80,000 feet.

Problem(s)

3) Before pressing the re-entry key stroke, I cannot see anything but a black screen in most of the views or half a black screen and half of the view........pilot's view, mission specialist view, VC, etc.

Other

4) While sitting on the ground, all views are accessible (nice stuff I might add). [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Thanks in Advance

SimJack

I've had the problem with the lower half of the screen being black. I just reset the flight and everything is good.

Anybody having problems with crash to desktop? This happens about my 3rd landing and is only with the Shuttle.

Also, no matter which Orbiter I select, when the flight loads at TAEM, the Orbiter is always Columbia. Its a simple matter to select a new Orbiter, but just curious.

Please don't let my gripes take away from an EXCELLENT product! I love the Shuttle and am having a LOT of fun with it!

If you wish to use all features of the product, yes, you should start with one of three pre-saved flights.
Note: Technically speaking they are not missions but flights.

Right. It starts moving right after you press P key.

Because due to unsufficient dynamic pressure on control surfaces in space and the upper atmosphere real Orbiter body position is maintained by RCS jets. We used SLEW commands to model the RCS jets operation.
