Title: TLK-39C
Post by Carter on Apr 29th, 2006 at 5:28am
Is there ANY way to buy this. I'm willing to load up my FS2K2 to run it, I'm not concerned with compatibility with FS9, I've just wanted to fly the L-39 since 6 of them moved into my local airport.
Thanks.

Thank you for interest in our products.
The product does not correspond to current standards so it is no longer being sold.
If we decide to make an update we will make the announcement.

Distribute it as freeware on AVSIM or something.

Really? cool. Where do you live?

What? They're a payware company. They are not selling it because they want to put it to their quality standards in the future. But you can still get it at Just Flight under a different name.

I checked on Just Flight, the company that sells Captain Sim products but as BOX versions (sometimes downloads)  and they are currently selling the L-39. I found it under a different name though: Combat Jet trainer. By the way, if those L-39s are still at the airport do you think you could get a few pictures of them?  ;)

There are plenty of L-39's at the airport here in Gadsden, Alabama. There is a company that supports many of the private L-39's nationwide and even worldwide called International Jets. I will start work there in about a week and a half :)

This "Combat Jet Trainer", does it only work in FS2K2 or will it work in FS9 as well?

I'll check....
By the way, welcome to the forum. Have a good time. And when you go to work to that airport please take pictures.  :)

Okay, it works for Flight Simulator 2000/Flight Simulator 2002/ Combat Flight Simulator 2.

So it won't work in FS9? Bummer. I have CFS2, but for some reason I can't get it to work on my new PC.
I will get you some pics as soon as I can. Will have to sneak the wifes digital cam to work one day LOL.
This very same aircraft is sitting in our hangar right now.

Ah, did you double post? Because a Captain Sim Moderator probably deleted it then.

Well I don't know about the posts missing, but about you CFS2 not working... Does your computer run vista? I might be able to help you out here.

Title: Re: TLK-39C
Post by brettt777 on Aug 31st, 2007 at 2:55pm
Nope, no Vista. Just Win XP SP2. I saw on another thread something about nVidia drivers causing problems. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I initially had problems getting CFS3 to run but eventually got it to work. But with CFS2 I just get a black screen with a cursor and the audio. Nothing else. I have older games than CFS2 on here and they work.....

About the posts, no I didn't double post...the page just wasn't updating so I could see any new posts, not just my own. Like this morning, this thread showed yesterdays date until I hit the refresh, then it worked. Weird...

The nvidia thread is the one I made!  :) I would recommend downloading it because it might help you. Just follow the instructions given. I downloaded it and now my FS 2004 never crashes.

About the posts, I know someone else who has this problem. We still don't know what is happening though. :( He just presses F5 (Refresh) a lot I guess.

Okay I got nHancer and installed it and followed the instructions as best i could (although they were a bit confusing in some parts). Some of my other sims look great but CFS2 still won't run. In fact, it won't even try to start. i get the small splash screen and then it does nothing. Almost like it isn't trying to access the CD, but when i remove the CD it tells me the CD is wrong or missing. I really want to run this sim but not sure what the deal is now. Should I reinstall?

Try the reinstalling.

I finaly reinstalled it and after much trial and error, got CFS2 to run properly. But for some reason a number of the add-on aircraft I have installed don't work. They just don't show up in the game even though they are suppose to be for CFS2. They have the same type of files as other aircraft but they just don't show up in the game...

Hmm.... You may want to check the folders for which they are in. I'll try to find out a bit more for you. By the way, did you get my post on Just Flight's Forum?

Title: Re: TLK-39C
Post by brettt777 on Sep 24th, 2007 at 2:05am
Well, I played around with the panel and sound folders and got some of them to work. But I get alot of missing weapons and flight control surfaces that don't move or work. But the biggest problem is that many of the aircraft have fuzzy and washed out graphics and paint. Not all of them are like that. But alot of them are, even in the menu.

As for your post, if you are talking about the one concerning forum rules then yes, I did get it. I don't understand it or agree with it, but rules are rules.

Since I finaly got CFS2 working I am seriously considering getting Combat Jet Trainer from "Just Flight".  I am wondering how well it works with CFS2? Is it worth getting? How does it fly? Are the graphics good? Are there weapons with it that work?

Oh, no not that one. The one you posted on Just Flight Forum.

For the graphics, it is very good. Take a look at the screenshots: http://www.another company.com/screenPopUp.asp?screenshotID=392&pid=30
I posted more info about the frame rates, quality and all on your other topic at Just Flight.

As for the graphics, could it be your graphics card driver? Have you installed the latest one yet?

Actualy I found some in game graphics settings that were set for speed, not quality. So I got that one figured out. I am just anxious to get into an L-39. I just got my first paycheck from I-jets (International Jets) so now I need to ask the bank (wife) if I can spend $20 LOL.

Well its a very good aircraft. I had lots of fun with it.

Well, I just ordered it so I'll find out for myself how good it is. Does it run independent of CFS2 or do you have to be in CFS2 to run it? Reason being my CFS2 is still very hard to get to work on this machine. Once it starts it's fine. It just has a very hard time starting...like it has a hard time reading the CD. It goes to the splash screen and just sits there for a few minutes and then eventually says I have the wrong CD in. But then once in a while it will work and then the sim runs fine.

Nope, all you need is the simulator you want to fly in. Dosn't have to be CFS2.  ;)

Okay, now I can't wait to get my hands on that sim! The Colonel took me up for a ride in N678LS today. Don't have any pics yet but man, what a ride!!! I was amazed at how smooth it flies and how quick it can turn. We did some high G turns and a vertical climb to negative G's and a barrel roll and 4 point snap roll. What a blast! Definitely in the top 5 list of coolest things I have ever done.
This is the one we flew:

http://www.l-39albatros.com/N678LS/N678LS_exterior06.jpg

It's an older L-39C but flies really nice.

That's great news! The Aero L-39C Albatros is one of the most performant L-39 variants there is!  :) It can do some really sharp turns for an oldie. Pilots who still fly these aircrafts have to have a minimum of .3 G Force resistance. Did you black out at anytime? One of my friends went on an L-39 before, went really fast. Did he activate the after-burner effect? You'll know because it makes a huge 'bang' sound.  :)

Title: Re: TLK-39C
Post by brettt777 on Oct 5th, 2007 at 10:56am
Nope, no AB. I almost blacked out when he first took off and did a hard bank and turn to the left just a few hundred feet off the deck. I am guessing just by comparison in the sim that it was maybe 3-3.5 G's. Not real sure. Wasn't really ready for that then remembered to breathe LOL. Wish the wife could have been there to video the flight. Oh well, I am sure there will be more.

Title: Re: TLK-39C
Post by Pash Master on Oct 5th, 2007 at 6:37pm
Your one lucky guy you know that. Must have been a great experience.  :) If you can get a video, I'd love to see it.

Since you almost blacked out, I'd guess you have a high G Force resistance. Probably 2.7, something like that. That impressive considering you haven't had military aviation training. Pilots who fly in F/A-22As do some may tight turns, they have to do at least .8 G Force resistant! They take intense training. It costs thousands of dollars just to train 1 F/A-22A pilot!  :o

I will definitely try and get a video next time. I just didn't expect it when he asked me and didn't have time to get my wife there with the camcorder. Guess I need to have it at the hangar on standby.
I don't know about a high G resistance. Maybe....but like you said I haven't had any training and the only thing I have ever had close to that was a cat shot off the USS Ranger in a US-3. But that was like, 25 years ago. But the one advantage the military air crews have is a G-suit. I could have used one the other day. But an L-39 isn't equiped to run a G-suit as far as I know. At least the one I was is isn't.

Title: Re: TLK-39C
Post by Pash Master on Oct 7th, 2007 at 11:29am
Well, it depends. Some versions were made with G-Suits and some were not. But if you were to go on an F/A-18E Super Hornet, you would black out at every turn with no G-Suit. It puts so much force on you.

Does anyone know how to remove the "unregistered copy" window? I bought the L-39 years ago for FS2K and for FS2K2. I saved the file and just recently installed it in FS2K2. During the install there was no screen to enter the product number, which, of course I saved. I seem to remember you could click on the unregistered copy window window and enter the info and it would go away, but when I click on it nothing happens.
I'm guessing since there's no support which is why nothing happens when you click on the window.
If anyone can help I'd appreciate it, if not I'll just live with it.
The L-39 was the first payware I ever bought, and the first that required a modicum of skill to fly it, as opposed to the default planes, and it's still my favorite plane to fly, sure wish there was an updated model for FS9.
BRG,
Jon
