Title: Propeller not feathering in flight Post by Aaron6256 on Jun 7th, 2024 at 3:34pm
Hi Captain Sim,
I'm experiencing an issue with the propeller feathering in my current setup. When I move the condition lever to the feather position, the engine shuts down as expected. However, the RPM remains at approximately 22% instead of dropping to zero. Here are some details from my configuration file: [PROPELLER] thrust_scalar=1.7074 prop_uselegacytables=0 propeller_type=0 propeller_diameter=13.5 propeller_blades=4 propeller_moi=226.18 use_propeller_rpm=0 beta_max=90 beta_cruise=45 beta_min=0 beta_feather=90 min_gov_rpm=13820 prop_tc=0.008 prop_governor_p=20 prop_governor_i=12 prop_governor_d=120 prop_governor_iboundary=5 prop_governor_dboundary=200 prop_cx_min=0.06 prop_cx_at_cruise_beta=1 advance_ratio_on_effective_beta=0.2 prop_cx_parabol=1 gear_reduction_ratio=13.54 fixed_pitch_beta=0 low_speed_theory_limit=0 prop_sync_available=1 prop_deice_available=1 prop_feathering_available=1 prop_auto_feathering_available=0 min_n1_for_autofeather_armed=50 max_n1_for_autofeather_actuated=25 min_rpm_for_feather=0 power_absorbed_cf=1.3 power_propeller_absorbed_cf=1 defeathering_accumulators_available=0 prop_reverse_available=1 minimum_on_ground_beta=1 minimum_reverse_beta=-15 prop_reverse_max_vel=12 prop_efficiency_table=0.000000:0.000000:0.229479:0.458958:0.688437:0.945670:1.202903:1.460135:1.717368:1.738836:1.760303:1.781770:1.803237:1.893399,13.200000:0.000000:0.020000:0.100000:0.600000:0.700000:0.650000:0.500000:0.300000:0.200000:0.100000:0.000000:0.000000:0.000000,15.200000:0.081583:0.543887:0.378347:0.263191:0.175222:0.116656:0.077665:0.051706:0.049980:0.048312:0.046699:0.045140:0.039141,18.180000:0.061707:0.436336:0.617073:0.514668:0.419939:0 [TURBOPROP_ENGINE] maximum_torque=17116 torque_automatic_limit=19600 tp_idle_range=0 tp_high_idle_throttle_pos=0 engine_friction_table = -10:-0.2, 0:0, 10:0.5, 70:0.5, 105:0.5 ; Rpm -> Friction torque n1_to_shaft_torque_table = 0:0, 69:0.02, 100:1.0, 110:1.1 ; Corrected N1 -> Shaft Torque rated_shaft_hp=3755 PowerSpecificFuelConsumption=0.365 free_turbine=1 power_scalar=1.0 low_idle_n1=69 Based on these settings, the propeller feathering should be functional, but it seems that something is causing the RPM to stay at 22% even after the engine shuts down. Here are a few specific concerns: The prop_feathering_available is set to 1, indicating that feathering should be available. The beta_feather is set to 90, which should be the correct feathering angle. The min_rpm_for_feather is set to 0, so it should allow feathering at any RPM. The defeathering_accumulators_available is set to 0. Could this be affecting the feathering process? Could you please help me identify why the RPM is not dropping to zero as expected? Any guidance or suggestions for additional settings to check would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! |
