I have just spent $100 US all up for all variants and base pack of your 737 only to find that there are no cockpit sounds.

Eg - no APU, seatbelt, switch or button sounds.

Can you please advise how to fix ASAP?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have also reloaded aircraft in sim many times to no avail.

Regards,

Jas

The sound problem is long standing one, and a variety of solutions have been suggested for the 727. You might want to search that section. I don't know if they will work for the 737, but you might want to try.

In your Captain Sim folder in your FSX directory, you'll find a 737 folder, and inside it is a sound config file. Change the two entries near the top to from "1" to "0" like so:

SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0
SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused=0

Also, you might try putting msvcr71.dll into your FSX folder. If your computer has it already somewhere else, don't move it; just copy it. If not (and mine didn't) you can find it online.

Like I said, these are not 737-specific fixes, but since they work for the 727, they might work for the 737. I can tell you my 737 has sounds with these two fixes.

No go.  Tried all that.

Thanks any way.

Hopefully someone can help soon or I will be asking for a refund.

The only sound problem I know of for the 737, is the Fasten Seatbelts and No Smoking signs a very quite (almost impossible to hear). I have never had any problems, other than that, with the sound.

Make sure that you install the 737's using the Run as administrator options (right click on the install and select Run as administrator from the list) if your OS is Vista/Win7/Win8. If you didn't do that, then it is highly likely that the installer never added the following:

 <Launch.Addon>
           <Name>Captain Sim 737 Sound</Name>
           <Disabled>False</Disabled>
           <Path>Captain_Sim\737\cs.sound.dll</Path>
 </Launch.Addon>

to the DLL.xml file. Copy and paste this: %AppData%\Microsoft\FSX\dll.xml into the Run Command (Windows Key + R) and see if it has been added.

I would also like to know why after having invested in purchasing software from your company why I cannot post my issue in the relevant section of your forums.
It's an anti spam measure, and the FOR NEWCOMERS - ask your questions here topics are where you ask your questions. At sometime, hopefully, they will be move to a topic that matches the problem.

Thanks Mark.

I appreciate your help.

I will try your latest suggestion.

As a side note.  Does anyone from the actual company offer assistance or is left to supporters like yourself.

If that's the case then It's a little disappointing that those that created the software can't be bothered to offer support.

The Support Ticket is for official support, not the forum.
There is also a Knowledge Base that provides most of the answers.
We members tend to provide answers from our own experience, from the Knowledge Base, or from what we see that helps solves other peoples problems.

Not to mention the fact that this software doesn't work as advertised.

Actually, it does. Not only for me, but many others as well.

It's still your right to request a refund under the circumstances. ;)

Mark is right. We do offer help but at Support Section. All your requests and questions will be answered there.

Well you can see that I've raised it here and nothing has fixed the problem.

And based on your arrogant post just the refund Thankyou.  I've lost interest in trying to fix your product.

Cheers.

It is a great shame when they feel the need to be extremely rude as well.

Still waiting for my refund.  Is anyone associated with CS going to appear from behind the veil of secrecy and speak up?

It's such a shame that you'll be losing out on this and other great CS aircraft, and that seemingly you've alienated those who have tried to help you in their own time.
Why not try again. starting with an apology if you like, as the CS737 is really nice once you have it setup?

Have you filled in the required "request a refund" form? I doubt you'll hear anything about the refund unless you did.

Yes, he will be missing out, but at this time I doubt that he thinks that it IS a good product.
We know that this does happen sometimes, but we (and I'm not just referring to forum members, but also Tanya and Alex) usually get them through it. ;)

Look.  There are a few things that have put me off.  First of all not being able to post in the 737 section of the forum to advise of the issue and get help.  Only to find there is a newcomers section.  Seriously?  So I post there and mark helps me out some.  I tried all the fixes, they haven't worked.  I put in a support ticket, it came back cancelled telling me we've tried everything and can't fix it.

I'm now asking for a refund on a product that's not working.

I will submit a refund request form.

Thanks for your help but I've tried everything.

So was I. But things are not working like they should for him. On several occasions, I've had other FSX addon products interfere with the Captain Sim FSX addons, and in all cases, reinstalling them fixed them. In this case, reinstalling isn't fixing it, so I have to go with his choice to request a refund. The Captain Sim 737 is THE, most favourite Captain Sim product of mine. I know it's not perfect, but it's pretty good (of course I'm hoping it will be improved upon in the next update).

Sorry it came to this, but as I said before, I understand why. :(

Most, if not all, of the help came from the KB, so a support ticket response may well have taken you to those same ones. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen that happen. :(

I guess from that point, we save the bother of searching through the KB for many new members (it can be difficult to find exactly what you're looking for in there). Plus adding other pointers from the way that, for example, an AV program might interfere, or an installer might be corrupted during the downloading (yes that happens too), or even the way Windows can interfere with the installer and FSX itself. We do our best, but sometimes we don't succeed no matter what we get them to try.

I'm just sorry I couldn't help you get it working. :(

EDIT: I forgot to add something about this:

I know it's not the best solution, but the forum is/was having a lot of trouble with spamming. This was the measure decided on to combat it. The FOR NEWCOMERS - ask your questions here is a solution of sorts. Write the question in there, we see it and help as best as we can.

Just to make everything clear. jaseman007, you said you had the 737 working fine on your previous computer. There can me numerous issues with each and every computer, we cannot trace and iron them all. We have been trying to help you but unfortunately we are not all-powerful, sorry.

Post by Nick Cooper on Nov 25th, 2013 at 2:56pm
To be fair, I don't think he did.
He said elsewhere that he and a friend had bought the aircraft and that while his friend's installation worked, his did not.

It must be very difficult for developers in these circumstances, I suppose a model can only be made to fit a standard installation of FSX.

Given firstly the vast number of addons which make changes and secondly the apparent willingness of FSX users to ceaselessly tinker with the installation it is hardly suprising that a given aircraft model will work for some and not others.

The solutions offered here and elsewhere do not seem to have been effective in this case, assuming as one must, that they were ever applied correctly.

It seems that whether his installation of the 737 can be made to work or not is no longer relevant.

Regards,
Nick.

Nick,

You are spot on.  I've not got it to work on my PC.  My friend has on his PC.

I've tried everything guys and I do appreciate your help.

It's just that $100USD is a significant investment only to find that there are issues.  I just want a refund so I can move on and leave you guys to it.

I cannot find any refund form so can you please process manually?

Again, if it was a $9.99 investment I would probably just put it down to a bad choice.  It's not though so CS, please do the right thing here and process a refund.

Cheers.

One last possible solution.
I had successfully installed the 737,then problems started happening. I deleted the 737 everywhere a trace of it could be found, cleaned out the registry of CS 737 entries, tried reinstalling running as admin, antivirus and firewalls off, but the plane was dead after I reinstalled it. I tried everything I could think of in my research. Nothing worked.
I had to do a entire FSX reinstall anyway and when i did, everything reinstalled perfectly on the fresh FSX/Acceleration except the 737. Finally, I downloaded the installer on Explorer rather than Mozilla and it worked. So try using Explorer if you haven't already.

Hi all,
I'm a new owner of the 737 and also new to this forum. I understand that I can put up my questions here and only here, so I give it a try:

My system is Win7 Home, 64Bit, the FSX runs on a separate SSD, ample space on it.

1. After starting up the engines and setting all switches correctly for take off, switching the view to the map shuts down the generators, so when I go back to the VC, I have to restart the generators, the fuel pumps etc. I made a reinstall and made sure I installed the a/c as an admin, but that didn't change this behavior.

2. After touchdown, the engines quit. I experienced the same problem with my CS C-130 and read through the relevant section of the forum, but using revers cannot be the problem for the 737 as I landed without using reverse, just brakes and spoilers.

Thanks for your help
Regards
Gunter

This happens with the 737 and other Captain Sim addons. I don't know why, but I have learned to do everything I need to do within the menu before proceeding with the preparation and flight of the 737. It's just one of those things. :-/

I've never had that happen. I can only assume that something happened that cause the engines to quit. Maybe you lost electrical power and that cause the engines to shut down (flame out) when you landed.
