Title: Re: how to calculate reserves and cost Post by Blover on Oct 9th, 2013 at 1:54pm
Back to serious busines ??
In preparation to redo my flight from Seattle to brazil, I brought my airplane yesterday from SBGR to Miami, Fl. Monday AA had 4 flights on this route, same plane 200LR. I used that flight time to do mine 8 hours. One longer. distance 3965 sm. To match that time, I slowed down my CI to 33. My block fuel was also lighter because the burn per minute is less. block fuel at the gate 119,725. Weight <570, means my initial CRZ can go to the top FL430, within reason, I choose FL350, and step up to FL400. Bracket - when I went, over S America, headwind all the way, coming back again headwind, twice as strong, all the way- more than 5 hours. Like riding a bicycle !!!!!! My forecast on the flight burn, was such that I was to land straight in with the reserve fuel at 15.9 Then Vnav played a dirty trick on me. right or wrong my TD was so far away from destination that I questioned it for distance. The whole descent was at -1250, I leveled at 12000 at a speed of 240 still 135nm from destination, and my fuel was great, 1000 over. That little distance, low and slow ate my fuel and I landed with 13.2, 15 minutes late. Miami was overcast, cloud 6000, wind calm, Straight in ILS27, Vref 30 130 + 5, 135 ( calm wind - add 5) left 11.30, landed KMIA at dusk. Vnav this time ???? :-/ Now I have to take my plane to Seattle !! ;D Raymond Boeing or nothing KFLL South Florida |
