Title: need advice on fps
Post by StigAndre7 on Aug 18th, 2013 at 6:47pm
Hi.

New here. I was wondering if there was any fixes for for getting better frames. Or point me towards a guide to have the 777 run smoothly?

And regarding the update. Is it just to run the 772 then 774, and it will auto update?

Cheers
S.

Best advice is a PC Upgrade.  I have a new fast PC and FPS are always over 40 at FL and over 30 in cities with FTX Global and all settings maxed except for water reflections.

Cant afford further upgrades. I have 2500K at 4.3Ghz. 8GB Corsair vengance ram(1600Mhz) Corsair force GT SSD 120GB. GTX560Ti 2GB vram. Shouldn't this be good enough`?

I have not yet flown it because it is too advanced for me still. And the lag has held me back as well.

I'm about to update the 777 base pack then the freighter pack. to install, is it simply to install 772 and then 774 and it will overwrite automatically? Or do I have to uninstall something first?

Sincerely
Stig

It is good enough no need to upgrade.

Make sure you use the nVidia Inspector....it does amazing work on the GPU. :D

I have very similar specs to yours.. except im OCd to 4.7ghz and have a gtx 680 video card 2gb. I have a fresh install of windows 8 and fsx. The only addons i have at the moment are ultimate traffic 2, rex with hd textures, and fsx global, fs dreamteam cyvr. And the 777 with 300 expension. I followed kostas guide and im only getting 15fps in VC. 25fps in spot on ground. Looks like OP and me are in same boat. Glad I got this on 9.99 sale....

hi guys, new here too i also got the 777 200 and 300 on the sale, and also got the 767 300.
my specs are almost same as stigandre7 core i5 2500k (default core clock 3,30ghz) evga gts450 8gb of ram(1333Mhz)
i get an average of 15 fps with the 777 and 20 fps with the 767, in fact i get 20 fps with all my add on aircraft.
said this there is a tweak that Works for the 777 now i get 20 fps like the other add on aircraft.
look for it in the forum is in topic called light Vc in the 777 wish section.
this 777 VC need a rework by captain sim as it has too much useless 3d objects in it, the 767 has less poligon count so you get better fps, i tested a lot these days. many landings in many different add on airports. 777 captain need a light VC for the next update. for now you can use the tweak.

When the Captain Sim 767 was first released, there was the same complaints about FPS with it, as I am seeing with the 777 now. Captain Sim didn't, as far as I know, do anything to improve the frame rates for the 767, so a better, more powerful computer is the most likely answer to get better frame rates with the 777. :-?

Hmmm so I have to buy a new board and a haswell chip? Like I said.. good thing I waited for 9.99 sale. Funny how tech support is out the same week they had the sale lol :(

I thought there was some lower quality vc textures? Are those not official?

One thing you can do, is turn off the hi-def 3D cockpit option in the FSX settings. You won't lose too much graphic quality, and you'll pick up a significant amount of frames. Note: This option works well with the CS777 and a few other addons but doesn't work well with all aircraft addons, especially the older lower res ones, so you will have to turn it back on when using them.

Is there any available reduced size vc textures pack somewhere? if not, could be this a possible solution for increasing fps? Could a half sized vc textures improve this?
Thanks,
Alex

Why isnt this issue on the known issues list? 15fps sounds like a pretty important issue to me. Esp on higher end machines.

I was surprised about that too.

Hi,
Between 15-20 FPS here in the 772 virtual cockpit basepack on the ground. Once in the air, 20-25. And 25-30 with other CS aircraft (fps locked at 30 in Inspector).
And that with on old AMD cpu.
You should really read NickN tweaks in Windows 7, and make either Venetube or Avsim mods.

BR,
Anders
