A little bit more on Vref + additive:
Approach speed/wind corrections - Autothottle on. When using AT to touchdown, position command speed to Vref + 5. Sufficient wind and gust protection is availalable with AT because AT adjusts the approach speed upward to account for the wind gusts actually faced during the approach. Approach Speed/Wind Corrections- AT off manual landing The recommended method is to add 1/2 of the reported heading component plus the full gust increment above the steady wind for the reference speed. The maximum command speed should not exceed the lower of Vref + 20 or landing flap placard speed minus 5 This technique provides sufficient low speed maneuver margin and reduces the possibility of flap overload. The margin for flap overload may be increase by reducing the flap setting. Happy landing ;D Raymond Boeing or nothing KFLL South Florida |
