Title: Thanks!
Post by RobWilk on Feb 10th, 2013 at 1:06am
Just wanted to express my appreciation to all the experienced guys here that offer assistance when needed. It's been especially helpful with the 707 as I've been unable to access any manuals to this point.

So by browsing I've managed to find the answers to all the questions I've had so far; primarily how to turn on the DME and activate the INS. I missed the switches on the pedestal and couldn't get the CIVA popup to respond at all until I plowed through the INS posts far enough to find the one where Markoz (I think) pointed out that the Simicons popup had to be activated once to breath life into the INS.

Now, all is well after an online inaugural flight last night, except for the fact that I couldn't see any raw data G/S indication, although the A/P flew it pretty well until I had the PAPI in sight. According to one post I read today I maybe just didn't look hard enough for the thin line...I'll check it out next trip tonight.

Anyways, cheers & thanks again guys! My round dial fleet is now complete with the CS '07, '27 and '37 and I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite if not for the fact that in my past life I've got about 900 hours as FO in the 727 ;)

You can get the 707 manuals from here: http://www.captainsim.com/products/x707/manuals.html

And I placed the gaugeXX=../civa/INS!Config,         0,    0,  0, 0, csx701 line at the end of [VCockpit01] in the panel.cfg. Like this:

[VCockpit01]
size_mm=1024,1024
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$FPSP
background_color=0,0,0
gauge00=Captain_Sim.x707.R01!R01_001_light, 625, 824, 56,55
....
gauge25=Captain_Sim.x707.menu!main, 0, 0, 1, 1
gauge26=Captain_Sim.x707.sound!main, 0,0,1,1,Captain_Sim\707\sound.ini
gauge27=../civa/INS!Config,         0,    0,  0, 0, csx701

so that the CIVA INS initializes as soon as the 707 shows up in FSX (in the VC), WITHOUT having to open a 2D Panel to do so. ;)

Thanks for the link, Markoz and for the reminder about the .cfg addition. I'd seen that but didn't get around to it yet.
