Title: B-52 Engines Stall Out
Post by rstaud on Sep 29th, 2012 at 11:26am
Somewhere it states that this forum is not recommended for tech support, but the instructions that lead to TS are clearly missing or inoperative.

I am having a basic problem where engines on my FSX Capt Sim b-52 aircraft crap out for no reason in mid flightt.  Most of the flameouts seem to occur when one or more of the several fuel tanks becomes empty.

As far as I know, this is the position of the B-52 fuel line/pump switches that allows fuel to continue to be provided to the engines, regardless if any of the tanks become empty. I have not had the engines flame out using those settings.

Yes, there is a lot of VERY poor coding associated with the CS-B52 fuel system and engine failures associated with them:-

Switches NOT controlling valves!
Valves NOT controlling fuel flow!
Engines having NO idea where they are being fed from!

Keeping ALL valves open (as per Mark’s suggestion) does not work for me. Whenever any of the centre tanks empty (no matter whether they are isolated or not) I get flame outs.

My solution:- I have written a program which automatically restarts any flamed out engine/s.

How sloppy is that, a long term problem that needs addressing! >:(

EDIT: And i notice Mark still has the orange "Tank Sequence" warning light on where I suggestion the fix 12 Months ago and has still not been implemented! Fixed it in my installation.  ;)

Doggone it!  Thanks, Mark, I was thinking the flameout problem had to do with fuel flow from the tanks, so I was expecting your suggestion to work.

I do have fewer flameouts with the panel changes, but now I usually have ALL 8 engines fail at the same time, instead of 2 or 4.

I am thinking that perhaps the problem, at the developer level, stems from the fact that FSX supports a maximum of 4 engines.  Not that duplicates of each engine can't be made, but it might create a confusing environment for the SIM developers.

By the way, I think its time to take this issue to Captain SIM tech support.   Can someone tell me how to do that?  Following all the proper links on the web site merely takes me on a "wild goose chase".
