Title: No Airspeed
Post by boeing247 on Jul 11th, 2012 at 10:52pm
I've been having this problem every so often on the 707: I'll be flying as usual, when all of the sudden, my airspeed disappears. I'm still traveling, and my mach indicator works, but the airspeed indicator does not work, and FSX shoes that my airspeed is 0. Does anybody else has this problem (only with the 707, I might add)?

Are your pitot heaters on?

Oh, haha--looks like they weren't. However, does an inop pitot result in no speed display on the Ctrl+Z menu?

It happened to me too, but in the Catalina between Australia and New Zealand! The SHIFT+Z displays KIAS. The 707's Indicated airspeed disappears when the pitot tubes freeze, and so it also disappears on the SHIFT+Z display. ;)

Yep. Thats frozen pitot tube.

BTW, If FSX fails pitot tube - IAS becomes very funny! It shows ANY numbers but true  ;D
Thats a hard failure to deal with.

As I understand, frozen pitot should give similar results, not IAS = 0. But maybe i mistaking  ::)

Ah--I didn't realize that the Shift+Z KIAS are actually linked to the gauge (i.e. that they didn't function as a separate, more precise gauge like the altitude indication).
