Title: 777 ECL Post by CameronL on Jun 7th, 2012 at 5:11am
So on the ECL, my arrow keys wont work to scroll down the checklist. And I can't ever get passed the crossfeed off, fuel pumps on.
Sorry if this is already on the forum, but I couldn't find it. Cameron |

Are you sure you are using ALT + UP ARROW/DOWN ARROW to move up and down the list?

After just having discovered the checklists (I know....), I found this thread when I realized I couldn't figure out a way to manipulate them. And forget the cursor control - even in 1.4, it doesn't appear to be modeled.
Regardless, I see here that ALT is what's used at least for navigating the menus, but using ENTER as a means to execute items and "enter" through menus?? Seriously?? Give me a break. Alt-enter is what's used to go from window to full-screen and you typically can *not* alter that key assignment. I found a workthrough at least: hit alt+ the arrow key you want and when you would normally hit "enter," then hit CTRL and *then* ENTER. It will still swap you from window to full-screen and vice-versa but it at least works. Please fix this and either model the cursor control or change the "enter" key... |

You use the ENTER key only, not ALT+ENTER. After using it a few times, it's easy to remember to release the ALT key before pressing the ENTER key, especially now that the ECL is working correctly in v1.4.
If you were having this trouble in an earlier version, when you often had to use the menu to move the cursor to select another checklist because it wasn't recognizing the setting of some of the switches, I would agree. |

Ahhhhhh - thank you!
Didn't occur to me to try that. Not my most intelligent moment... |

I am experiencing some problems with my ECL:
I have a horizontal alignment problem. The first col with the checkboxes/small gray square is mis-aligned horizontally with the line item text. Maybe I have the wrong screen resolution? Thank you... |

Mine are aligned perfectly, so it might be your screen resolution causing it. :( |

I tried
1600x 900 1680 x 1050 1920 x 1080 and there was no difference :( |

Sorry. Screen resolution isn't what I meant. I meant Font Size:
Smaller - 100% (default) Medium - 125% Larger - 150% Mine is on the default one! |

I adjusted my fonts down one size and that worked!!
My ELC now 'looks' as it should. Thanks Mark. |

Do we have any way to move the ECL white rectangle bar up and down using the mouse (roller wheel I was thinking)?
Can we set our own keys to move the white rectangle bar up and down if we don't like the ALT-Arrow keys? Also, what about the rectangle buttons at the top (NORMAL-MENU, RESETS, NON-NORMAL-MENU) and at the bottom (NORMAL, ITEM OVRD, DHKL OVRD, CHKL RESET)? None of these buttons seem to work for me when I click on them. Are they functional? Thanks... |

Has anyone got the rectangle buttons at the top (NORMAL-MENU, RESETS, NON-NORMAL-MENU) and at the bottom (NORMAL, ITEM OVRD, DHKL OVRD, CHKL RESET) to work?
None of these buttons work for me when I click on them. And I can't get the page 1/page 2 on the right side to work for multiple checklist pages. According to the manual, they are working/should be working but I can't get them to work. Are they working for anyone else? Thanks... |

The NORMAL MENU and *RESETS work, but the NON-NORMAL MENU does nothing except open a list/menu of things/options that can't be accessed.
The ITEM OVRD, CHKL OVRD and CHKL RESET work fine for me. *In the RESETS menu, the RESET NON-NORMAL can be clicked on but I don't think it does anything because the NON-NORMAL MENU is inaccessible. The RESET ALL will reset the NORMAL MENU checklist, but probably does nothing to the NON-NORMAL MENU is inaccessible. |

Thanks Mark.
What about the multiple page checklists? Can you page up and down? |

The cursor moves to the page 2 position automatically and then I press ENTER to move to it:

Thanks Mark, I see now how that works.
It feels uncomfortable to me not to be able to use the mouse. Having to always use Alt-arrow to get around. I need to use it more but it seems like it will take a lot of extra time using it in flight. Flying single pilot IFR all the time, as we do, our work load is high enough without having to spend more time trying to get through the ECL items. But, as I said, I need to use it more and try to get used to it. I'd be interested in hearing how others use it and what they think. |

You have to remember to press the ALT key when moving the cursor on the ECL, but once you get used to it, you should be fine. I'm pretty sure that pressing the arrow keys without holding the ALT key will not cause the A/P to relinquish control, so that's a good thing.
And yes, I did try it, but I'm prone to doing strange things just to see what happens (just not in v1.5). :D |
