Welcome, Lorenzo.  :) Sorry to hear about those problems. Can you do me a favor and look into the aircraft.cfg of your 707? Find it at SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B707-300. Open it with a text editor and post some entries like [fltsim.0] and rising numbers.
The line where it says sim=csx701 is very important, so lets just check what is missing there.

Additionally, can you confirm running the version 1.3 of the 707 for FSX? The installer name is csx701_1300.exe.
Does your FSX have at least SP2 installed?

Hi CoolIp,
first of all thank you for your kind reply, at this moment I'm at the office this evening I will check the .cfg.
I confirm you that I have fsx+acceleration pack so I have all the SP installed.
I have a question:what do you mean with:"post some entries like [fltsim.0] and rising numbers." I'm sorry but I'm quite ignorant on informatics matter..

Thank you CoolIp

Lorenzo

No problem. I'm just looking for some entries in the file which defines the aircraft for FSX. It's called aircraft.cfg and it's located at FSXfolder\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B707-300. If you open it with e.g. Notepad (you can choose it with a right click on the file), you will see a lot of text, separated by chapters.

Some of those chapters have [fltsim.0] as title (or another number, instead of '0'). Those are the entries FSX is looking at for e.g assigning the right flight model or repaint to your plane. Now you spoke about an error message which says 'couldn't start flight model' or something. This points at some mixed up entries in those sections, namely in the line where it says sim=csx701.

Here's an example from my system.

Quote:
[fltsim.0]
title=CS_B707-300 Paint 0
sim=csx701
model=adv
panel=
sound=
texture=panam
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=N885PA
atc_airline=Pan Am
atc_flight_number=701
atc_heavy=1
atc_parking_types=GATE,RAMP
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=707-300B ADV
ui_variation=Pan Am
ui_typerole=Commercial Airliner
ui_createdby=Captain Sim
description=707-321B ADV Jet Clipper Northern Light (20024/776)\n707 Captain (707-300) 1.3\n(c) 2011 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com

So look for those entries and post a few of them. Take the first three or so. That's [fltsim.0], [fltsim.1] and [fltsim.2].

Now while I don't know why the installer mixes up those entries, I want to check if this really is the cause of the FSX error message. For this, you would have to post some of those [fltsim.0] entries.

As a general tip on installing the plane, always make sure to right click the installer and then select 'run as admin', to avoid any problems with lacking Windows rights. Also, it's a good step to temporarily disable your antivirus in place. You can trust the Captain Sim installers, so this isn't a security hazard or something. Just make sure to enable it again after installing.

If the models themselves are missing, or the panel.cfg does not exist, or something is entered incorrectly in the aircraft.cfg, then FSX cannot load the model. In others words, there are quite a few things that cause the flight model to fail.

Try reinstalling the 707 using the repair option (or uninstall then reinstall it if you prefer). If you are using Vista or Windows 7, make sure you run the file as an administrator.

I checked my .cfg and I had the letter "o" instead of the zero in the second blue line of the cfg. I fixed it manually and now I can load the plane but when i start a fligh I have so much more problems:
can't see the landing gear;
can't turn off the parking brake;
can use the Yoke.

I'm desperate,do you thinck the will rembourse me??

Thanks

had this exact problem and a complete and thorough uninstall and reinstall helped Goto >Your Profile>Customer Support>Search KB, and search for KB#685 . I had the same issue as you with the O being there instead of a 0 changed it to the 0 and still same issue, a reinstall fixed it for me.

Did you remove the 707 entry from the Windows registry? Don't just follow the reinstall instructions in KB #685. Do everything it tells you to for uninstalling it first, THEN follow the reinstall instructions.

Have you tried reinstalling SP2? I only ask because I suspect that SP2 for FSX may be corrupt. You might even want to consider repairing FSX, then reinstalling both SP1 and SP2.

If I suspect that I have a problem with FSX or Acceleration, I usually run a repair of FSX, then a repair of Acceleration. I do this because the FSX repair will revert my FSX back to RTM, so I then have to repair Acceleration to get back to what I had.

I rarely choose to just repair Acceleration, because a problem might not be a part of it, but a part of the original FSX installation. So as I recommend a repair of both FSX and Acceleration.

I'm really sorry that you can't get it to work. :'(

If you are using Google Chrome to try and submit a ticket, it has problems with http://www.captainsim.com, so you would be better off using Internet Explorer or Firefox. Both of those work fine me.

To ask for a refund, go here: http://www.captainsim.com/support/refund.html. Don't use Chrome or it may have problems.

Hi Mark,

first of all I really want to thank you for the time you spent ttryng to help me.
I generally use chrome,now I tried to submit my ticket using explorer and I successfully sent it.
I'm explained the situation,they know that an activation problem is impossible( i have my order number,I paid all!!!).
Let's see what they will answer me.
I was thinking to buy the 737 of Captain Sim, but I'm scared of buying their products.

Thanks for all

Lorenzo

It absolutely a shame, I explained to CS support my situation with a ticket and they answered me that my ticket was cancelled because I have to check KB  KB# 660,685.. I explained to them that all the solution provided wer'nt succesfull.

It is a shame.

I can't understand why it isn't working for you. When I install a Captain Sim aircraft, this is what I do:

1. Turn my Avast Free Antivirus Software OFF (I didn't used to have to, but they made changes recently that now require me to turn it OFF)
2. Right click on the installer (csx701_1300.exe in this case) and select "Run as administrator".
3. After it finishes installing, I reboot my computer.
4. After the restart. Start FSX and go for a flight.

If I do that and it isn't working properly (which is rare), I download a new installer and go through the above steps again, only using the "Repair" option. Doing that has fixed my problems every time. So it doesn't make any sense that it doesn't work for you. :(

I'm not saying that you did not do all that. I was just explaining that that is all I need to do to get them working on my computer. :-/

Seeing as you can't get it working, I can only suggest that you request a refund. It's a pity though. :(
