On the INS case, it's unlikely that an installation error drives it to a large offset. It's more likely that the coordinates got entered and then mixed up on e.g. Eastern and Western or by using some wrong numbers.

If it happens again, can you take some screenshots which show the steps you are running? You know, just in case. The pictures would help finding a problem. When it comes to the actual installation of the gauge, it either runs and powers up or it does not. The intermediate states are very rare.
