There isn't a CP Air livery, by chance is there??

Ok, I assume there is not from the lack of response :)

I will try to do one up.  I am fighting with it a bit.  I believe the .dds textures are dtx1 type, correct?!  I tried to do a quick test on the repaint, but am left with just black empty textures?!  I obviously am missing a simple step, methinks.  Any help would be appreciated.
Keep in mind, I am NOT new to painting, but it has been a little while for me, is all.  Thanks.

Yes DXT 1 no alpha
On Photoshop layer are hidden so if you open with what ever software you get empty texture.
You can rent photoshop for a month so you can have fun with it and able to do your beloved CP AIR.
It's not that complex livery.
You can download a plugin from Nvidia website so you can export in DXT within Photoshop.

Hi Bruce,

What a coincidence. I started doing a CP air repaint just 2 days ago. This is really my 1st FSX attempt for a repaint. The red triangle is still work in progress. I guess I'm still learning. I would also like to do the cabin but cannot find good references for the interior colors.

Here is a screenie

Btw where did you get that CP air 727 skin?

Title: Re: CP Air
Post by CPC900 on Apr 27th, 2012 at 2:19am
Awesome.  I started the front fuselage, but it is a pain in the a$$ to do the red stripe around the whole top front of the airplane.  Doing repaints is simple with horizontal lines; CP Air was a bit more complicated.  This repaint kit is NOT making it easier to complete.
As for the tail, unfortunatly, it is split up, otherwise your job would be a lot easier too :)

If anyone has any easier tips, please let me know.  Is there an easier way for me to wrap the red line around the top?!

Sorry Speck, I forgot to mention......that 727 paint id for the vistaliners 727.  There is also a repaint for the another company 727.  They are available at the CP Air Virtual Airline site:

Wow, keep up the great work. Looking Forward to using the  "EMPRESS" call-sign (CPC) on Vatsim.

I am in the VERY EARLY stages of working with this paintkit.  It's gonna take some time :)
I was going to post a picture of what i had done, but apparently I do not have enough posts on this forum yet :(

Bruce

Title: Re: CP Air

This is one of the most annoying paint kits I have ever used for a payware aircraft :(
I am not a photoshop genius, but for gawds sake.  Trying to get the red strip around the whole aircraft, smoothly transitioning from side to top etc. is a real pain.  Having to do the nose in 4 different places to make a circle seems stupid.  Maybe I am making my life more difficult than it needs to be?!?!?!
Anyways, I hope someone can do this challenging repaint :(

Sorry to hear you have stopped working on this nice classic bird. Thanks for trying. Is there anyone who can paint this classic jet?

I'm still working on mine time permitting and it's proving to be a challenge indeed. I'll post pics of my progress later on.

Good to hear.  I will keep tinkerring with it, but it will probably take weeks to get this fully complete...if I even get that far.  >:(

For you experiened photoshop'ers, is there an easier way to do the circle around the nose of CP Air, where it can be separated into the 4 needed sections? (I hope that makes sense)

Here is what I have done so far. I'm still working on the tail and the red stripe above the cockpit is being a challenge.

Lookin good.  Don't you hate having to line up that red band! :(

Bruce

Thanks :). That red band on top of the cockpit is turning out to be a nightmare.

Title: Re: CP Air
Post by speck on May 14th, 2012 at 3:59pm
More progress, slight change of color, it seems there were 2 orange versions, this here being the latter. I'm still tackling issues with the red band on top of the cockpit and below the tail.

I'm still amazed on how some skinners here churn repaints so quickly :)

Almost all of the issues are solved. Sorry it's taking long I'm still new at this. Can anyone tell me where can I find the vertical fins? which texture psd has them?

Here is a preview of my progress. I'm still looking for Cabin pics.

I did the repaint to a customer, but I can not upload it because I paid it.

If you need help with the top of the cab, let me know and I show as I did  ;)

Best Regards,
Marcelo

Love the "Empress of Winnipeg" on the side. Would that be possible for another paint?

I show to SPEK like it I did, it is the project of him. Ask him when it finishes it if it is possible to do it, I do not want to face works. ;)

Marvik putting the "Empress of Winnipeg" on the side is a cinch. I'll do it as soon as I complete the present one.

Marcelovene thanks for the reference. I was using that and a good friend helped me also ;)

I will check again the texture you put up. I did color the top antennas but the bottom...hmm I'll double check. Thanks again :)

Hi Namco,

Great minds think alike, yes I have those, currently I'm still looking for CP air 737 cabin pics because I plan on making an interior for the plane using those safety cards.

Of course Mtl Aircanguy. Thanks for the compliment and yes the 737 is worth it :)

Marvic I made this model for the 200 series only I didn't know that the demand for the adv version was great.  I'll make the "Winnie" version for the adv.

Thanks for the kind words Ron, it was a challenge and a pleasure making this skin.

Yes, especially the part where you need to put out your cigarette before you use the Oxygen mask. Sure do remember the days where there was a smoking section, I guess not one engineer who spent time developing the pneumatics realized EVERYONE was smoking
regardless where they sat.....Yikes.

When I was flying PAL to the Philippines (late 80's/early 90's), we were allowed to go to the Aft Galley (it was a DC-10) to have a smoke AND a beer! It did not matter if we were seated in the smoking or non-smoking section. During the 7.5 - 8 hour flight, there was always about 4 or 5 people going back there for a smoke. I was frequently back there for a smoke and to stretch of my legs.  ;)

Ahhh. Those were the days!!!
