Title: DME and Civa INS Post by aburley on Apr 8th, 2012 at 11:52pm
Hi guys!
First time poster here, so hi! Just bought the 707 and i love it - a stunning piece of work by CS! I was just wondering if when using the CIVA INS for navigation, if the Miles indicator on the MHPDI will work, and if i can get the needle to point to the waypoint that CIVA is pointing to? I know how to work the INS fine, but what else should i set up in the plane when im using it? For example, 'OFF' is showing on the MHPDI - is this ok? I was also wondering about setting the fuel in the plane - should i load the tanks equally? Thank you for all your help! :-) |

Hi aburley.
This - CIVA INS - THE ONLY THREAD PLEASE - would be the best place to look for the info you need or to ask question about the INS. ;) As for fueling the 707, start by filling the tank furthest out towards the Center tank. Examples 75% fuel = Center Tank 41.6%, Left Tank 100%, Right Tank 100%, Left Aux 100%, Right Aux 100%, Left Tip 100%, Right Tip 100% = 119945.3 pounds of fuel. 25% fuel = Center Tank 0%, Left Tank 5.5%, Right Tank 5.5%, Left Aux 100%, Right Aux 100%, Left Tip 100%, Right Tip 100% = 40009.7 pounds of fuel. Notice that the tanks closest to the center of the 707 have the least amount of fuel starting with the Center tank (at the 25% fuel load, it is empty). Mark |

Hi Mark.
Thanks for getting back to me. I thought as my query wasnt about the INS, but more how the plane would need to be set up when using it, that the link you gave wouldnt be the right place to post! :-[ My bad. Thanks for the info about the fuel, its helped a lot. :) |

You are right in saying that it is not an INS question, as a question about the 707 itself, so I apologize if I made it sound like you should have posted it in the thread I mentioned. Because I didn't load the 707 into FSX and take a look at what you are talking about (I was flying a long haul flight in another aircraft and so I couldn't do that). I'll try to take a real soon. ;) Mark |
