Hi Mark,

You wrote "You put the flap lever to the DN position and leave it there and the flaps lowered completely?" That's right.

Understanding how the flap control works on a real B-52H helps us to use our vitual B-52H properly.
So the B-52H flight manual says"AN OFF POSITION IS LOCATED ON EITHER SIDE OF A SPRING-LOADED LATCH-TYPE STOP WHICH IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DETENT QUADRANT. DEPRESSING THE LATCH TOWARD THE FLAP LEVER ALLOWS THE FLAP LEVER TO BE MOVED FROM OFF POSITION ON EITHER SIDE OF THE LATCH TO THE OPPOSITE DETENT".
Flaps are extended/retracted with the use of 2 coupled electric drive motors. The flaps extend or retract fully in approximately 60 seconds. So when the pilot wish to extend the flaps, he moves the lever from the OFF position directly to the DN position. Doing this will energize the flap electrical drive motors. 60 seconds later, the flaps will be in the down position. The lever is left at the DN position, limit switches will deenergize the electrical circuits.

There is no intermediate detents (positive in-between settings) on the flap lever quadrant but the pilot can place the flap in an intermediate position if he brings back the flap lever to the OFF position, doing this will stop the retraction/extension motion. The manual says "WHEN THE LEVER IS IN THE OFF POSITION, THE CIRCUITS ARE DEENERGIZED AND THE WING FLAP ARE HELD IN THEIR LAST POSITION". Like I mentioned previously, no intermediate flap positions are needed or used during take-off, approach and landing.

Mark, if I'm not clear, do not hesitate to reply to this

Thanks

Rick
