Title: Engine Type Post by NNewcomb on Dec 12th, 2011 at 2:07am
Is there a way to change between the normal 727 JT8Ds and the MD80 style JT8Ds?

Errrr. How do you mean?
By giving them more power? Like the MD-80 JT8Ds had? Or so the sounds are the same (aliasing the sounds to the MD-80)? The answer for more powerful engines - here I have given the 727-200 more powerful engines. I've increased the thrust from 15500 to 17400: [TurbineEngineData] fuel_flow_gain= 0.003 inlet_area= 18.000 rated_N2_rpm= 29920.000 static_thrust=17400 //15500 afterburner_available= 0 reverser_available= 1 ThrustSpecificFuelConsumption = 1 AfterBurnThrustSpecificFuelConsumption = 0 Answer for aliasing the engine sounds to the MD-80 (a bit of a guess because I don't know which MD-80 you would alias it to): Create a new sound.cfg with something like this written in it: [fltsim] alias=MD-80 Mark |

Ahh I should have said this in the original post. What I mean is the visual appearance of the engines mounted on the fuselage. What I mean by MD80 style is the engines on the Super 27 and FedEx -200 and by normal 727 would be the rest of the 727s

Sorry, but no you can't. It would need to be done on model by Captain Sim when they created it with 3DS Max. Well I assume they use 3DS Max.

That's too bad. It would have been a nice feature for the ACE because I prefer the earlier engines |

It means more work and probably a far more complex ACE to do it. I guess we can't have everything we want unless we do it ourselves. :-/ Mark |

Good point. But, its weird, because I downloaded a FedEx livery for the -100 a while ago, and it always had the later engines. I checked recently, and it now has the earlier engines... |

If you are just talking about changing between the clamshell reverser engines and the ones with the internal reversers, you can do that by changing the "model=" value in the aircraft file for the livery you want to change. In some cases, though, you will also end up with winglets. But the /F models you change "model=f" to "model=f_re" and you will have the clamshell engines.
