Sorry to be a pain with a second post here, but I have a quick question about moving guages and the Autopilot as well.

So, I was wondering if I can move a couple guages to a second monitor, but I dont see a way to drag them from the VC?  I just want speed, altitude and atitude on a seperate monitor.  For speed and altitude, it doesnt even have to be the actual guage just a number reading of it would be great  ;)

And my question about the AP.  I have not messed with it yet but I was wondering is there a way to dial in the correct altitude I want and let the aircraft climb or descend until it captures the correct altitude with AP?

By the looks of you, it seems like you have to get to the correct altitude first and then engage AP?

I think you could edit the panel.cfg and add the gauges needed to a popup window. This could then be dragged to a second screen. I haven't tried, it's just a mind made concept. The 727 is VC only, so you currently can't grab certain gauges.

On the AP. Please search this forum section. Lou, the former rw Captain wrote a ton of useful stuff about it. Be aware that the thing is basic and limited in its features. So the comfortable climb to a commanded altitude is a thing of the future for us 727 drivers.  :D
Pitch her up, control and monitor the VS and level off timely when you've reached the desired altitude. That's all there is and Lou didn't have much more back then.

From the concept, you may be able to cheat when adding an AP gauge from a default plane. But, hey, that's not it, right?  :)

Ya I had a feeling that I couldnt grab guages and drag them over to another monitor, but thats cool, I will just have to get used to not having that.  I just like having the alt, attitude and speed indicated on a second monitor for when I am outside the aircraft in 3rd person camera :)

I had a feeling the altitude AP function was pretty basic.  I'm just used to dialing in my altitude when climbing and decending and hitting the button.  I noticed also that usually 'shift + /' arms the auto speedbreak upon touchdown in aircraft I usually fly but I think the 727 is too old to have the 'auto speedbreak' armable? And you have to manually pull the speedbreak when touching down?

The gauges are there, they are just fixed in the VC, but if you look into the panel.cfg and e. g. take the airspeed indicator into a popup window, it will be there as 2D popup, which can be moved. You don't loose the one in the VC. From the concept, this should work.

You are right about the speedbrake, all manual here. The AP is an advanced one of that time though. You can select an altitude where the horn goes off. Pure luxury! 707 pilots don't have that.

This is such an awsome plane to fly, and way different from a regional jet.  I'm trying to get used to the slow response to power input.  When on final it's easy to cut-out too much power and you start sinking like a rock; Guess I have to find that sweet spot on the throttle  ;)

Yeah, we've all done that a time or two.  Hurts!  

In case you did not know, you do not want to use flaps 40 unless in an emergency.  That makes those brake stalls a little easier to avoid.
